Church of Saint-Pierre, Firminy, France. Written by Thomas Schielke. Studying Le Corbusier's sacred buildings for more than four decades has led to a deep fascination for Henry Plummer regarding the transformative power of light: Instead of serving as a tool of religious persuasion, as it generally has in the past, light has become a quiet force to visually resist and elude, erode and outshine, the Church´s mandate.

Le Corbusier's Five Points of Architecture is an architecture manifesto by architect Le Corbusier. It was authored in L'Esprit Nouveau and his book Vers une architecture. Early in his career, Le Corbusier developed a set of architectural principles that dictated his technique, which he called "the Five Points of a New Architecture" (French: cinq points de l'architecture moderne). They are considered to be most evident in his Villa Savoye

In these modest religious works Le Corbusier deploys light to create enchanted, emotionally charged spaces wedded to the cosmic rhythm of sunlight and season. The author is an architect and photographer. I don't know if he has done any buildings, but this is the eighth book that I have purchased on his camera work, all of them excellent in capturing the essence of the subject of his study--whether it be Shaker (Stillness & Light), Scandinavia (Nordic Light), or how light effects structures (The Architecture of Natural Light). In this case he looks--with his color camera--at the religious buildings of Le Corbusier, the Switzerland-born French architect. Wonderful!
