This book, by the world's greatest expert on 16th century Italian maiolica, is a fine introduction to the topic, but it is by no means exhaustive. I used it for some preliminary research for a book and found it to be lucid and helpful. It is a good addition to the library of anyone who is interested in late Renaissance crafts.
