Not so much "100 Ideas that Changed Art", but more "100 Ideas in Art". The book simply lists and discusses various concepts in art from the time it was first conceived (cave drawings), to present day (globalisation, digital art, etc). Only 11 left in stock (more on the way). I was disappointed in this book. To follow the format of the series, the author presented some ideas that radically changed photography, like the Gum Bichromate Process, Roll Film, Halftone process, Polaroid, Kodachrome film, etc.

If I had young children, I would buy this book, leave it on the shelf for them to discover. I'd say as young as 9 or 10, right through HS. First they will look, then read. The scope of the images in the book is global and semi-linear; the reader/viewer travels in time and geographically. If you can tear the cell phone out of your child's hands long enough to get their attention, it's good book to share, opening so many subjects for exploration. Time well spent.

I bought this, along with a few of the other "100 ideas" books, to keep on my tables to spurs of inspiration and to entertain any guests I have. This is a friend favorite.

I really dislike criticizing things - but - this book should have been much better. The content is, well, ok - but the crowded layouts really bothers me - there is no room on each page to breathe, look or think. There is too much on a page and the lack of white borders give the feel that this book was short changed by the publisher. I bought the book based on how I saw parts of it on line, which was great - but the actual book lacks the fine inviting qualities I saw in that computer tease.

To the point - this book would make a far better app for an IPad/iPhone or a computer.

Great book, g
I purchased this for my high school art classroom not realizing that it contains a section on erotic art. Woops. It's a nice book for a home library as well.
