Jerome Lawrence Alexander Roche (22 May 1942 – 2 June 1994) was a British musicologist, with a particular interest in Italian church music of the baroque era.

Jerome Lawrence Alexander Roche (22 May 1942 – 2 June 1994) was a British musicologist, with a particular interest in Italian church music of the baroque era. Roche was born in 1942 in Cairo, Egypt, the son of an army doctor. He was educated at Downside School, a Catholic independent school in Somerset, England, before studying music at St John's College, Cambridge, graduating with a BA in 1962. He went on to study for a PhD, under the supervision of Denis Arnold

The Roominghouse Madrigals is a selection of poetry from Charles Bukowski's early work. It shows a slightly softer side to the beloved barfly. The book differs from some of Bukowski's later work in its use of elaborate metaphor, which is frequently highly striking, vivid, and surrealistic. Overall, this collection of early, scattered works does not represent the best of Bukowski's poetry. Readers might want to check the pagination carefully before purchasing "The Roominghouse Madrigals. In my copy, pages 133 - 164 are included twice while pages 165-196 are missing.

This introductory study traces the history of the madrigal, primarily in Italy but also in England and elsewhere in Northern Europe. Taking full account of new developments since its original publication in 1972, the book emphasizes the musical response of composers to the words of madrigal poetry and considers the literary background of the genre.
