Kelso Cochrane (26 September 1926 – 17 May 1959) was an Antiguan immigrant to Britain whose unsolved murder sparked racial tensions in London. Cochrane was born in Antigua and after a failed marriage in the United States in 1954 had moved to London, where he settled in Notting Hill and worked as a carpenter. He aimed to save sufficient money to study law. After fracturing his thumb in a work accident, he attended Paddington General Hospital.

Praise for The Black Country. Ripe with gory detail. as a flair. I do think that it would do the reader best to start with Grecian's first book as an introduction to the ways of the Murder Squad, Day and Hammersmith. All in all this is quite a good book.

Black Country Murders (Paperback). Ian M. Bott (author)

Black Country Murders (Paperback). Bott (author). Contained within the pages of this book are the stories behind some of the most heinous crimes ever committed in the Black Country.

Dear Jack, I think I'm about to be arrested and charged with murder. This mind-twisting case has all the hallmarks of a classic Country House Mystery. Tom Morris, busy cataloguing the library of Plumwood Hall, is in a fix. Three days before, a member of the family had keeled over at afternoon tea after eating a slice of fruit cake laced with poison. Woven throughout the story is an engaging conversation about Lewis's Christian worldview. To read this book, upload an EPUB or FB2 file to Bookmate.

In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, punishment was intended to be a short, sharp shock, often administered in public to discourage others from committing similar crimes. There were more than 220 crimes for which offenders could be hanged, including burglary, horse stealing, forgery, rick burning, highway robbery, assault and, of course, murder. In Black Country Murders, Don Cochrane provides accounts of many trials for murder and other offences drawn from the sensationalist press reports of the time, such as poisonings, robbery and the murder of the Gummery family, a case that remains unsolved today.
