furious ox
This book is very poorly written. The subsections throughout the chapters will contain material completely irrelevant to what it purports to talk about. It makes the easiest of concepts amazingly confusing just for the sake of being wordy. A sentence can span six lines without telling the reader much of anything. Definitions have to be looked up in another resource because the ones contained in the book are really unclear. The only thing it does do well is contain a lot of additional resources and examples to base their conclusions, but some of the real-life examples don't even really highlight the point the book just made.
Road.to sliver
This book is a good overview of the several approaches used in the discipline of Business Strategy. It covers most of the current approaches and concepts.

Usually the major concepts are presented with sufficient detail so that it is possible to understand the basics. The concepts and tools related to strategy are put in the context that is most applicable, i.e., scenario analysis is part of Chapter 2 - Change and Uncertainty in the External Strategic Envinronment.

A good thing is that the book reduces "the marketing or hype" around some tools or concepts to its real dimension or importance, helping the practioner understand its applicability in real world situations.

I would say the book is a good introduction on the topics covered and can be used both as a starting point or an overview by an experienced person that has been exposed to a particular set of techniques and concepts and wants to complements his/her knowldedge.

This was one of the first Kindle edition books I have ever bought. The ease of perusal was greatly appreciated. The ability to download the entire book was easy and fast. The only complaint I would have is the lack of actual page numbers. I am using this book via an online course which requires citing sources. Without proper page numbers, citing the book was different.

The book was for a class but certainly outlines business management and the foundations for capital Management decisions without getting overly technical about it

Extremely boring to read. Extremely wordy. After reading two pages, I barely know what the author is talking about. He makes simple concept extremely difficult to understand and uses 200-word sentence to describe an easy concept. It is supposed to be a business book. Not showing off he knows how to write long wordy run-on sentences.

It is well written and a very easy read. However, it is very basic and there are no details provided for any of the tools or concepts. A decent introductory book, but if you are looking for substance this is not the book for you.
Very concise and highlights a peek into the future.
