The First Step to being a Great Leader is to read MORE THAN A MINUTE: How to Be an Effective Leader and Manager in Today's Changing World.

More Than a Minute is a book that will transform the way you communicate ideas. In this book Holly Green, Managing Director and CEO of The Human Factor, Inc. shares her 20+ years of experience working with executive level management and strategic operations of highly successful companies such as Google and Coca Cola.

More Than a Minute is an extremely valuable resource for any of today's managers and leaders who wish to be on the road to "greatness." Reading this book is the first step towards making strategic planning a way of life. As Holly says, "Get back to the basics when everything around you diverts you into complexity."

This book is a true leadership reference guide that you will find you consistently return to again and again. It provides management methods that are conducive to today's fast-paced, changing world including simple tips and checklists that you can apply immediately. The format of the book is carefully laid out with simple outlined processes to help you apply the new principles and leverage your strengths as you read each section.

I recommend this book to those who want to maximize their potential. Because after reading and applying Holly's shared knowledge you will surely begin to improve as a leader, achieve greater results and successfully tackle the challenges & demands of today and tomorrow.

Holly Green is the real deal and so is her new book, More Than A Minute. I usually like to highlight key thoughts and passages as I read, but Holly has so many practical, effective suggestions in these pages that I seem to have highlighted everything except the page numbers and the index.

If you're looking for a thorough, readable guide on how to get superior results through other people, pick this book up and start turning Holly's suggestions into reality in your own company - or in your own department.

This book is an excellent frame for strategic planning and execution. From the perspective of a strategist and business coach, I find it interesting because More Than a Minute follows so much of what I do in my practice... I could give it to prospects and say "this is what we're going to do". I think the audience is one where they are theoretical about wanting to learn about strategic planning and implement what they learn. There are so many good sections of questions and other tables in the book that you can start using tomorrow... very practical and useful.

This is not just a sequel to "The One Minute Manager" but compliments it well. One contains foundations and the other contains clarity to those basic foundations with strategies for leaders and managers in todays changing world. Read both!

Holly G. Green capably covers basic leadership and management, and stresses the importance of communication, honesty, feedback and goal setting. Her book, while not particularly innovative, will help novice managers set objectives and meet them by working with the people they lead. Green's goal, as former president of The Ken Blanchard Companies, is to expand on the advice Blanchard gave in his classic, One Minute Manager, decades ago - hence, her book's title. Green's counsel on dealing with problematic employees will be particularly useful to beginners. Experienced managers and leaders managers are undoubtedly familiar with this material, even if they aren't updating it or putting it into practice, and that is where getAbstract thinks this back-to-basics, contemporary manual might spur them to action.

Finally a book worth reading every page of! I am getting so tired of reading business books that have only one central theme then spend the entire book trying to prove that point. This book actually has depth! Yes, many of the concepts you may already know but I found these refreshers to often very helpful. But this book also brings some crisp new perspectives, written from the point of view from someone who has been there and done that.
This book must be read more than once, as it is impossible to absorb and digest all the information that is presented in one passthrough. The book is insightful, thought provoking, global in content, and is void of fluff. It offers many practical options for goal-setting and strategic planning so that managers may embrace a leadership path that is within their comfort zone and business style. It challenges leaders and managers to rise to a higher level and also reminds them of often-forgotten basic people management skills that are not only critical to successful goal-setting and strategic planning but also in achieving financial rewards. It is a hands-on tool that should be a part of every business person's library.
