Several years ago I posted a note here recommending William Greenough's IT'S MY RETIREMENT MONEY-TAKE GOOD CARE OF IT: The TIAA-CREF Story. The Wharton School had published the book in 1990 and I remembered it as a well-told story by an insider. Dr. Greenough joined the organization in 1941 as assistant to the president and remained with TIAA-CREF until 1979, the last twenty-two years as president, and then as chairman and CEO. His forty years of contact with the people, events, and innovations at TIAA-CREF were firsthand and intimate. I just re-read the story
