I got this book for my daughter. She is 9.

Last year I got her the National Geographic kids Almanac 2012. She really enjoyed that book and it came in so useful to her during that year. Things she would learn in class she would come home and say she knew some of the stuff because she saw it in her book, or she would go back and look at the Almanac and see what she learned and get more details on it.

I figured since she got so much use and enjoyment in the previous one I would get her the new issue.

Sadly this issue contains the same things as the previous issue. The games are different but the information is the same. A few new things and imagines but nothing very new.

I still am happy I bought it, the old one had a lot of wear to it, but disappointed it mostly just a reprint.

Got the 2012 edition, and the next year got the 2013. Both were loved by my son. He carried it on all his road trips. He used to tell me a lot of trivia after reading this book. The things he read in this book even helped his get a second place in a science contest. I was all set to order the 2014 book in january, but read few reviews that they were mostly repeated information from 2013. So have just placed an order for the 2015 one. My son was so dejected that I did not order the 2014 too. Hoping the 2015 will be as entertaining for him as the 2012 and 13. Will leave a review there once i get that book. Would highly recommend for any kd that loves to constantly read and is interested in new information about anything and everything.

This was pretty good. Interesting facts presented in a fun way. It just didn't hold his interest as long as I'd hoped.

Excellent read for kids anytime of the year! I have two daughters who fight (not literally) over who gets control of it first every morning. It is filled with facts and exciting pictures that captures the attention of both my 7 yr old and my 9 year old. They love to "inform" mom and I of the amazing stories and things as they read the book. We had best be giving them their utmost attention while they are "teaching class", though LOL.

If your child doesn't have any Nat Geo Kids Almanacs, then BUY THIS. These books are fabulous for any kid who is curious about nature and the world. My son absolutely devoured his 2012 one, so I was excited to get this one for 2013. Unfortunately, MUCH of the contect is identical...I would estimate over half at least. A disappointment for both of us.

Purchased this for my niece. She reads all these almanacs cover to cover, over and over again. These are great ideas for christmas or birthdays - hours of fun for the kids in your life.

This book is full of fun facts and gorgeous pictures, but the text overall is quite dense. The information would appeal to many children, but the reading level of the students... probably the target age is 12 to 13 and very interested and determined younger students.
Sadly, my grandchildren had to throw this book out once it got accidentally dunked in the Reading Room chair. They absolutely loved it, however, their mother says, and we have bought the 2014 edition and crossed our fingers for good luck! It's chock full of fun facts that children love to tell you about. Highly recommended.
