Nick Butterworth (born 24 May 1946) is a British children's author and illustrator. After his education at the Royal Liberty School in Gidea Park, he left home to work as an apprentice as a typographical designer with the National Children's Home before working at Crosby Fletcher Forbes (the forerunner of design agency Pentagram) and then leaving to become a freelance graphic designer in partnership with fellow long-standing friend and children's writer and illustrator, Mick Inkpen.

Tiger isn't a real tiger; he’s a kitten. But sometimes when he plays he pretends to be atiger in the jungle. Children won't be able to resist joining in the fun as this precocious cat runs, creeps, snarls, and sleeps just like a real tiger!

This is a great book for the toddler-preschool set - and above! The pictures are simple but effective and well-done. I'm able to move the book to go along with the actions (like jumping and running) which really gets a good reaction from my 15mo old twins. This is one of the few books they will routinely sit still for the whole thing. I've read a LOT of childrens' books and there is a fine line between sweet and saccharine and this book falls squarely on the sweet side. I like books like "Guess How Much I Love You" and "Babycakes" as much as anyone - maybe more - but sometimes they're just a bit much, and this is a really nice alternative, especially at bedtime.
We love "When we..." Nick Butterworth books. This one looked cute and it is. It is a little longer read than the "when we" books. My son is 1 1/2 and doesn't, yet, have the attention span for it. We will definitely save it for the near future though!
Better than expected. Almost new condition! Amazing book for ages 1-4
