I really like this book. My 6-year-old granddaughter is just learning how to cook a few things, so I thought this would be a perfect recipe book for her. Before I mailed it off to her, I looked over the fairy tales, and I ended up reading the book from cover to cover. Many are familiar fairy tales but some with very different endings than those I read as a child. I think it is a very good cookbook and a very good story book,, too!

This book is very engaging and perfect for a young reader and cook/baker. I really liked the book and am giving it to a nine year old reader for Christmas. Initially, I was a bit disappointed, because it is a book focused more on the fairy tale aspects and less on the recipes. However, the young girl who will be getting this book is an avid reader and I know she will love the reading/recipe ratio. So, I would recommend this book more for readers who like to cook/bake - versus a young cook/baker.

I have always absolutely loved Jane Yolen and having a cookbook written by her is just a dream come true. My son, six years old, is the perfect age for being engaged in the stories AND cooking the resulting recipes. He loves this book.

Ms. Yolen has written many of our family's favorites, including Sacred Places and Child of Fairie, Child of Earth. Anything that has her name on it, I will carefully consider. She's amazing.

I bought this book for a creative writing class for second graders. The kids had a great time picking out recipes to make on Fridays. After a while they started coming up with their own recipe ideas. This book opened another outlet for their untapped creativity. I loved it! I just wish I had thought of writing a fairytale cookbook first.
