I use this book for a spring time lesson for pre-school bible class. The kids love it! They pick the animals out on every page. I like that is relates everything in spring to what God has done for us.

K is for Kite God's Springtime Alphabet by Kathy-jo Wargin is such a wonderful, colorful book. I really love it. Alphabet books are fantastic for young children, but one that brings God into the picture is just priceless. It's a really good size, over 9x11 and the pages are bright, colorful and the children, animals etc.. all have such sweet expressions and it is a hardcover book. The illustrator Kim Gatto does such a fantastic job. I would like to see more of her illustrations in the future.
Every letter of the alphabet tells about something special in Spring, like grass, Lambs, Pussy Willows, Sunshine.
One of my favorite pages in this book has these words, "We'll stay Outdoors in the fresh springtime air. A walk in the woods shows God everywhere!" I feel that way exactly.
Another thing I love about this book K is for Kite is that the children and the adults {parents} are doing so many things together and just having a wonderful time.
I would highly recommend this Alphabet book for your favorite child. I certainly will be looking for more books written by Kathy-jo Wargin.

K Is for Kite: God's Springtime Alphabet, written by Kathy-jo Wargin, is a picture book that illustrates each letter of the alphabet with something relating to springtime and to the concept of a world made by God. The author provides both a word and a short poem for each letter.

For instance, the letter "F" is for "Feast." The accompanying text reads: "With family and friends we will Feast as we should. We're thankful to God who gives all that is good."

Each letter is used in this manner, even the tricky letter "Q," which in this case is for "Quack."

Although the people represented in the painted illustrations by Kim Gatto look a bit stilted and stiff, the bright, bold colors used throughout the book will be sure to please young and old alike.

What I Like: I like the bright colors used in the illustrations. And, even though I'm not a big fan of rhyming text, this one is done very well.

What I Dislike: The only thing I would add is a Bible reference of some kind for the text.

Overall Rating: Very good.

"From sweet April showers that make our hearts sing, may you feel every blessing of God's gentle spring." K is for Kite has to be my favorite of Kathy-jo Wargin's God's Seasonal Alphabet books so far. While we love P is for Pumpkin, F is for Fireflies, and S is for Snowman, K is for Kite is the best. The illustrations from Kim Gatto and fun and breezing and perfect for this weather. The verse on each page to accompany each letter is delightful and fun to read. I wouldn't be opposed to having these be memorized by a preschooler and used as alphabet flashcards.

Going from the color choices on the background of a page to the fun phrases, I love it all and my daughter delights to read it again and again. It is our favorite read this spring for sure.
