Ros Asquith contributes a regular cartoon feature, "Doris," to England's Guardian newspaper. Many young readers in Great Britain know her better, however, for her lively "Teenage Worrier" books that realistically explore the many anxious moments facing teens, and explain how to solve them with humor and self-reliance. Among Asquith's popular titles in America are My Do It!, Babies, and Mrs. Pig's Night Out. All three of these books aim at a preschool audience and reflect actions and adventures common to all young children. In My Do It! a toddler insists on accomplishing tasks that his mother wants to do for him.

"There are big babies and little babies, Do-lots and do-little babies, Happy babies, cross babies, And 'I'll show you who's boss' babies." Babies will enjoy looking at pictures of lots of different babies in a variety of situations, and will especially love looking at themselves in the mirror at the end! This beautifully illustrated and humorous book, with simple, rhyming text, is perfect for sharing with your baby.

I really enjoy reading Babies to my 18-month-old. The illustrations show many different types of babies doing all sorts of activities. Our daughter loves to point out all the "bah-bees." The rhyming story is cute and easy to read. The ending takes the cake with the sentimental message to your little one and a mirror on the final page. A great addition to any 9 to 36-month-old's library.
