These books continue to amaze me. I first read them with my children and now I read them with my grand children. A great way to learn about true American history.

I received this book from "bookholders.com" and I would not recommend buying from that company. They place a huge barcode sticker across the spine of every book they sell. I bought the book to replace a book we had borrowed and water was spilled on it. I can't give them a book with a big barcode sticker across the spine, so I will have to buy another one. Also, they will return it for the purchase price, not shipping & handling. Since the book was $.01 and the shipping and handling made up the rest of the $4, I won't be returning it. So, this review is more about the seller, not the book.

The story takes place during the years of 1620 to 1621. The main characters, John and Sarah Smythe, and their parents have just traveled on a long journey on the ship, the Mayflower, from England to the New World, America. They were tired, dirty and hungry. Many of their friends were sick. They had to work hard to quickly build shelter, find food and make other important essentials.

The book is a sad story based on real events. Many people died during the book which happened in real life. However, the author wrote the story full adventures for John and Sarah that it made it interesting to read. I would recommend this book because it is a good way to learn about our heritage.

If you read any of the American Adventure series books, I recommend you read them in order.

John's family have arrived in America and try to make a life in the new land. Sarah was my favorite character because she was hardworking, brave, and kind-hearted. This book is an easy way to learn history.
