Just as Daddy dozes off, a winged moonhorse lifts a child across the sky, pulling the moon across the heavens, where they have wondrous adventures until it is time to return home to Daddy and bed

My 6 year old granddaughter loved this book!
The art is fantastic.
It captures the imagination and longings of a young child, my daughter adores this book
and now reads it to her younger sibling.
There are just a handful of books I would like my children to have for their children
and this one is on the stack I have for each of them.
Beautiful illustrations! For some reason the story was not as intriguing to my 5 year old granddaughter as I had hoped. She did like looking at it though
Risky Strong Dromedary
A young girl sits on the porch at night with her father. When he falls asleep, she takes a ride on the Moonhorse and they fly across the sky. The imaginary trip is related with poetic prose that is inconsistent; however, the chalk illustrations are quite beautiful, and introduce a few of the constellations. Lovely book.
Moonhorse is a inspiring bedtime story about a young girl who goes on a nighttime adventure with a beautiful white horse while her father sleeps. The girl and the horse fly through the constellations and go on an adventure in the stars.

I loved how the child and the horse rode through the night sky and identified the stars and constellations. The story helps open a child's imagination and shows the beautiful aspects of the moon, stars, and night.

Parents will enjoy reading this to their young children as a calming bedtime story to help ease their children into a peaceful slumber. The illustrations in the book are calming and seem painted with soft colors and yet vivid characters. I would recommend this to any parent who has young children who enjoy bedtime stories.
The vivid illustrations capture the dream of roping the moon. The prose is elegant. An average little girl rides and helps the pegasus who pulls the moon through the night sky. Not surprisingly, the theme of stars, a winged horse, and the moon appeals to young children, perhaps especially girls. But what is surprising, is that the story also appeals to adults. It is a timeless fancy to be a part of the night, and the story gracefully interjects teachings of constellations, responsibility, and kindness. Though the dad is barely in the story it is clear the little girl shares a close relationship with her father. This book is beautiful.
This book is perfection! It is a dreamy and exhilarating combination of beautifully evocative artwork and imaginative, spare, yet poetic text. A little girl rocking on the front porch with her dad one starry summer night wishes on a star and the constellation Pegasus comes to life as a huge white horse with powerful milk-white wings and a flying mane and takes her on an adventure through the constellations. The atmosphere of the darkness, the whispy night clouds, the stars and the stillness completely transports one. The balance between the magical fantasy of the moonhorse and the natural and grounded personality of the child combine in a subtle way to make this fantastic journey happily believable. This book will become a favorite. Don't miss it!
A mystical, lyrical, dreamy ride through the stars. My sister gave this to me for Christmas (I collect fairytales and storybooks) and I'm going to be buying one for each little munchkin I know. Beautiful story, beautiful prose, beautiful illustrations.
