This book is a little less detailed than the previous book for the Old Testament I bought for this class. It may be a little too advanced for some readers who are not used to or have been exposed to the Bile. Otherwise, it is an amazing scholarly book with great resources and timelines. This book provides insight to the reader as to who the books of the Bile were written for, when and why.

This was a required text for a class and I couldn't have been more pleased. The unbiased account of facts with an all encompassing account of events at the time that the different books of the bible are thought to have been written gives the reader the tools for a more accurate interpretation of what was written.

Loved this book. Rented it for my Theology/New Testament Gospels university class and am only said I didn't get to keep it (too expensive). I enjoyed the material and learned a lot of new things I had no clue about. Would recommend to anyone interested in theology and specifically if learning about the Gospels.

I had to use this book for my new testament class and I absolutely loved it. It just flows and opens your eyes to the text in ways that I just don't know would be possible on your own. It's one of the very few textbooks I've decided to keep. Whenever I find time, I would love to read this cover to cover, it's that good.

Nice to dabble in the New Testament. Easy to read 2-column format. Great photos of the Holy Land and places where some of the actual historic events in the NT took place. I like Harris' style of writing. Keep in mind this barely scratches the surface of the NT (considering there are people who spend their whole lives studying just one book!). But it gives a good overview and maybe will spark interest in something to really delve into.

This replaced a good textbook I loaned to a "non-returner". I enjoyed the historic background on the New Testament books.

I thought the book was okay. The writer could’ve used more concise language. I am a Biblical Studies Major so this is the book that is being used for class.
Why did I read this book? Because my professor required it. That being said, it was interesting material presented in an engaging way.
