Joshua was afraid to trust his own impulses, or his own wisdom. Isaiah Was Sawn Asunder-Isaiah, who was permitted by the Lord to see wonderful things, was sawn asunder, because he faithfully reproved the sins of the Jewish nation.

Logos rather generously gave out Brevard Childs’s highly regarded volume in the OTL series last month. It sounds like it would be useful to have, but it wasn’t much help for my first sermon and I didn’t have time to look at it for my second. PTW is by Ray Ortlund, who I prefer more than the usual Hughes/Ryken - but he had one sermon on the whole chapter!

Kigabar
An easy to understand and very practical biblical commentary that has been of tremendous benefit in academic exegesis and the preaching ministry. The commentary is simple and to the point, yet comprehensive and encompassing. It really helped me in developing a more comprehensive undersanding of the messaniac connection between the Old and New Testaments. Thus, it was an asset in both academic writing an expository preaching. An excellent read.
