Bold face type is used to identify direct quotations from the Old Testament. Such differences generally have no bearing on the division of the text. They are included with the text in this way because of their antiquity and the position they have traditionally enjoyed in the church (.

I bought this at a used book store because it has the entire Greek NT (critical edition) in clear, very readable type, and it cost a lot less than the fancier UBS and Nestle editions next to it on the shelf. True, it does not have the critical apparatus, but I don't need that right now, just a nice copy of the Greek NT, and this fits the bill perfectly. That each word is described for type of word, tense, number, etc, is bonus.

This book was a hand-me-down that has been in my library for a few years now. It is only recently that I discovered the value it held for someone studying the New Testament. As an example, I was trying to determine the meaning of some verbs in Luke 19:8, where Zacchaeus is speaking.

There is some discussion regarding the situation as he has just me Jesus. He makes a statement that he gives half his money to the poor, and if he wrongs anyone he restores fourfold.

The verbs indicate that he currently gives half his money to the poor; this is not a practice he is about to begin due to meeting Jesus. He also "admits" (through the verb use) that he has cheated, but no longer does so, and he pays back anyone he has cheated 4 times more than cheated. The verb also indicates he will continue to pay back anyone else who might come to him with an accusation they have been cheated.

That's a slightly different slant than the account I was taught as a child.

So, for me this is an excellent resource. It will be staying in my library!

Hard to find copies of this one now. If you're into reading Greek for all it's worth, this one is a necessity. It uses a simple code under every Greek word in the NT that identifies what part of speech it is, also including voice, tense, mood, case, gender, person, number, whichever are pertinent to the word. (Some came with a card to have with the book as a ready reference for the symbols, but the page b4 page one is the same thing and can be replicated.) You can get the same info elsewhere, but this saves a step or two and speeds up your understanding of what is being said and gives you more time to concentrate on other things.

I've been wanting this for several years and now that I have it, I am very well pleased with it. You need to read the forward to understand how to use it, but then it becomes a valuable tool for New Testament exegesis. I highly recommend it.

Assumes the reader is familiar with what voice, tense and mood are in the original language and how they color the verbs, especially. A masterful job reminding those familiar with the nuances of the language what the VTM are without going back to your Greek primer. I love it and use it weekly for in-depth sermon prep. I haven't found fault with their parsing yet. This volume is a MUST for those hard-to-understand passages where the interplay between voice, tense and mood is critical to the correct theological understanding of the passage. Makes accurate exegesis mush easier to the objective seeker.

I ordered this book for my husband and he loves it! It makes his sermon preparation easier each week because he can go to one source for the parsing of each word.

If you use scientific tools to understand the Word of God, this is a book you can't miss. We can't get the pure message from Our Father if we use translations like spanish or english, we need to study Bible from Greek and Hebrew, there's no other way. This book will let you know the real meaning of the Greek verbs, nouns, and more.
