Dawn's narrative is at the same time both heart-wrenching and inspiring

It Doesn't End Here: An Amazing Journey of Faith and Forgiveness is the heroic retelling of the spiritual journey a mother made after her son's tragic death and the inspiration and strength she received through the Blessed Mother's own journey of Sorrow. Dawn's narrative is at the same time both heart-wrenching and inspiring. It is a beautiful illustration of the difference a close and powerful relationship with God can make in a person's life in times of tragedy. Many people would have understandably given up and become too depressed to advance, numerous times along the way, during a journey like the one Dawn has made in her life.

The Book of Ruth: Journey of Faith is a 2009 Christian film directed by Stephen Patrick Walker. It is based on the Book of Ruth, and was aired January 8, 2010 on the Trinity Broadcasting Network. The Book of Ruth is about a Moabite woman who loses her husband, her father-in-law, and her brother-in-law.

It Doesn't End Here: An Amazing Journey of Faith and Forgiveness traces the steps of a journey that no one wants to take. We don't always get to choose what happens in this life, but we can choose to grow in compassion and wisdom as a result. After suffering an adverse reaction to a medication which lead to a tragic car accident, Dawn Marie took the incomprehensible loss of her son Nathaniel's death and put the energy of her pain toward making the world a better place. A masterful work full of courage, honesty and above all love; this story of the battle between corporate greed and the little guy manifests that untiring persistence and a little gutsiness can go a long way. This affirming message of hope and healing is a must read!

This true story began about 15 years ago and shows the dark-side of a popular and widely-prescribed prescription medicine that caused psychotic episodes in a few people. Reluctant at first to tell her story and challenge the drug company in court, the author gains courage through her faith.

You'll have a front row seat to the endless court dates and depositions as you watch the story unfold through the eyes of the author.

Part "faith journey," part Erin Brockovich, this story is an eye-opener to make sure every prescription is researched well before taking it.

Read it in two days. Overall a truly beautiful story of faith and perseverance under unimaginably difficult circumstances. I thought the first half of the book was a little disjointed and hard to follow (why I give it four stars instead of five), but it was worth sticking with it to the end. The spiritual consolations, the family support and her many sincere and supportive friendships are what shined through this book to me. I found it hopeful and inspiring.

I couldn't put this book down...Although the messages of the book - the suffering of love, forgiveness, hope - are timeless and universal, the telling is poignant and new. Through the words, the story, the witness the author shares, the Holy Spirit speaks to the reader, writing a letter of love and comfort to the human heart and whispering, "All will be well..."
Beautiful and inspiring!!

With the suicides of members of my family, I have always needed to "know all the facts." In this book the author says "Is my faith based on having ALL the answers, or is it based on my belief that God exists and that He is a loving God and is always looking out for His children's well being. It was like a slap in my face. Do I really need all the facts? Let go...Let God! God Bless you Dawn!! Your book helped me in more ways than I can count.

"Blessed is she who without dying has won the martyr's crown." -- from Vespers of Our Lady of Sorrows

It Doesn't End Here by Dawn Marie Roeder is an extraordinary chronicle which I read in one sitting; I simply could not put it down. The beautifully composed and heartrending memoir describes the horrific death of Mrs. Roeder's darling two year old son Nathaniel, her only child, in a car accident. The accident was the result of the side effects of a prescription medication for ADHD, a medication which is known to occasionally induce a psychotic state. Mrs. Roeder, as the unwitting victim of a failure of the medical profession, faced a journey to hell and back again. Interwoven with Scripture passages about the Seven Sorrows of Mary, the book confronts the reality of evil and how innocent people are hurt by it. Holding on to the hope of Heaven and eternity becomes the compass which guides the author back from the abyss.

Mrs. Roeder writes with honest clarity, from the heart, which make the power of the emotions she describes all the more poignant. With many twists, turns and flashbacks, the book reads like a mystery novel in the way that the layers are slowly peeled back to expose the truth. Anyone who has ever suffered a loss will identify with the pain described and find new hope as well. Most of all, a special little boy lives in the pages of the book; he comes to life so one can see him as he was, while knowing that he has a mission which he is even now fulfilling from Heaven.

Not only is the book an awe-inspiring witness to faith but it reveals the insidiousness of the pharmaceutical industry. Mrs. Roeder found herself in a fierce battle with a drug company as she struggled to keep other families from being destroyed by the same medication, still on the market. Some earthly battles we are not meant to win, but for those who love God there is a spiritual victory in each outward failure. Because of the way the author and her family are attacked when they dare to seek justice for Nathaniel, every American should read It Doesn't End Here. People need to see for themselves what could happen to any of us at the hands of those who love money more than they fear God or man.

(*NOTE: It Doesn't End Here was sent to me by the author in exchange for my honest opinion.)

Parenthood makes us vulnerable because when our child is born, we know that we will never be the same and we will do anything to keep him safe. When something happens to him, no matter what the circumstances, it is our worst nightmare. "It Doesn't End Here" is such an account. It is the story of the author's tragic loss of a precious child and the courageous decision to sue those responsible for her son's death. Beautifully written, it is a heart-wrenching story of trust, hope and forgiveness. It is also the story of profound spiritual growth.

The book describes the events surrounding the death of her beloved two-year-old son, Nathaniel, and the ensuing trial. It includes many relevant quotes from Scripture, saints and others. There are poignant photos of the author and her son at varying stages of his short life.

This week we celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows. Dawn Marie Roeder has found strength from Our Lady's journey, so she uses one of the Seven Sorrows of Mary to introduce each chapter, then she tells part of her story, and finishes each chapter with a fond memory of her late son, Nathaniel. Although Catholic teaching is included, this book is for everyone who has lost a child and has struggled to come to terms with it.

This may be a challenging story to read, but a necessary one. It shows that there is always light amidst the darkness. I highly recommend this book to everyone!
