Had Gerberg followed suit with The Rejection Collection and injected each bio following that artist's particular works, then the effect would have been less daunting. The result would be, of course, a more stilted format than the mixed-up end result (retiree cartoons mingling with terminal illness gags, flirting between a smattering of funerals and Boomer jokes). For all of The New Yorker's inspiration, this book does not fit in with the seminal magazine's own line of cartoon books.

Bought new from Amazon and read the book on the date received. It was worth reading to help me continue to adjust to the afterlife of retirement. I then put it on my desk in my office and there have been no takers who wish to give it a quick glance, even after almost 2 months. I guess many find the subject mortifying. Suggest you buy one used since I doubt I will read through it again.

These cartoons are marvelous, both in terms of the sentiment and construction. Highly recommended for baby boomers and other immortals.
The cartoons are first class but definitely not something you would want to give to someone who is very close to meeting his/her maker!
