Francisco M. Fernandez . very substantial presentation of perturbation theory in quantum mechanics, much of which is based on the publication of the author and hi. . Perturbation theory is a powerful tool for solving a wide variety of problems in applied mathematics, a tool particularly useful in quantum mechanics and chemistry. Although most books on these subjects include a section offering an overview of perturbation theory, few, if any, take a practical approach that addresses its actual implementation. very substantial presentation of perturbation theory in quantum mechanics, much of which is based on the publication of the author and his coworker. he book is clearly an important reference work in the field, and the author has completed a laudable task.
by Gustavo A. Arteca. The book provides a general, broad approach to aspects of perturbation theory. The aim has been to cover all topics of interest, from construction, analysis, and summation of perturbation series to applications. Emphasis is placed on simple methods, as well as clear, intuitive ideas stemming from the physics of systems of interest.

One of the simplest, and most completely treated, fields of application of quantum mechanics is the theory of atoms with one or two electrons. For hydrogen and the analcgous ions He+, Li++, et. the calculations can be performed exactly, both in Schrödinger’s nonrelativistic wave mechanics and in Dirac’s relativistic theory of the electron. More specifically, the calculations are exact for a single electron in a fixed Coulomb potential. Hydrogen-like atoms thus furnish an excellent way of testing the validity of quantum mechanics.
