Heather Smith MacIsaac (Author), Eric Piasecki (Photographer). I love this book and Katie Ridder's ideas. This book is what edged me out of my comfort zone of room colors and encouraged me to experiment with the bright and bold and mix all kinds of things.

The cover of this wonderful book on the interior design work of Katie Ridder is what inspired me to click and look, after which I clicked and bought. What I saw on the cover is what I wanted to see more of in the book, and it's all there! Ridder's rooms are full of a most surprising use of color and pattern that piques the interest, and makes one want to enter and make oneself at home. Barring this, looking at and reading the rest of the book are good ideas! In addition to the wonderful experience of these rooms, the entire package pleases. The book itself is covered in a nice design (for those who like to display books as part of their own decorations); there are colorful drawn designs and vignettes scattered throughout the book; and there are individual chapters on details, lighting, upholstery, embroidery, tile, and wallpaper. And let me mention one thing that you will not find in the book--shelves of ratty-looking books. Here's a design tip from me: if you are going to spend money on lots of interesting books, obtain clear covers for the books' dust jackets. Your shelves will look fresh and neat, and your books will be protected from looking dirty and shredded, especially if you move a lot. This book is good, good, good!

The cover is beautiful, and a few other pages are superb. Being a collector and designer, I had hoped this book would be a s compelling as many other special ones in my collection. I would likely not purchase it as a gift for my friends, as I felt it wasn't as top notch throughout as other books of its type. Not meant to be disparaging to the designer, more a function of publishers choice of venues, photographs and paper quality. Thank you.

I just finished reading 'Room's tonight. I really enjoyed this book and the information provided about Katie Ridder's design process. I was expecting a book written by the designer on her philosophy of design so I was a little surprised at the text being written from a third person, however, the information provided is excellent and it helped to see how decisions were made in the design process. I found it to be insightful. I've become very interested in design over the past several months and books like this fuel my desire for learning. It certainly helps that all of the rooms are beautiful and well done indeed.

This book is amazing! Beautifully illustrated with enough detail in the pictures that you just want to linger over each page. The author has broken the book into various chapters, i.e., entrances, kitchens, bedrooms, which makes it easy to look for the section that is of particular interest. The narrative is great; down to earth and very readable. This is not a how-to book but is a gold mine of decorating ideas and a springboard for formulating your personal decorating ideas. I don't have a Katie Ridder budget, however, I now have more confidence in my decorating "wants" and what I want to achieve in my house. This is the best decorating book I have purchased; well worth the money!

Generally this book is written for people who love formal design and have the money to spend on it. There are also some helpful ideas about how to make your space homey regardless of money.
