Like the 18th century WWing many of the "finer" works seem to of come from specfic areas/persons. Do you think there is a market for quailty made cases or reproductions in full ? Seems in my part of the country there is an abundance of clocks for sale at furniture stoes at what appear to be pretty resonable prices. Admittingly not all of them are what I would call highly crafted. But some are quite nice.

A well written book on the subject. It is more a review of classic models from the past, clock models that were very popular at the time. Not exactly about liking or not a specific model as another reviewer wrote. Written from a historical perspective, it strikes the best ground between getting too much info, historical details and practicality.
On the down side, some parts are dated, like the list of sourcing parts and supplies. Most of these businesses are long gone- a sign of the passing times.
The prints are also old black and white drawings. Although accurate, they aren’t up to today’s standards. That is the biggest downside of the book in my opinion.
Nevertheless. It’s still recommended for those interested in the history and building of clock cases..

I am so happy to finally find a book that actually shows how clocks of the past were constructed. So many dollars have I wasted on misleading titles for clocks, that end up showing mostly modern kitsch cat clocks or the like with ugly quartz movements used. And worst poorly construction plans.

This book has none of that. He does show quartz movements but recommends a true mechanical clock movement.

A good woodworker can use the plans here to design his own antique styled clocks as well.

Now I only wish that there was a follow-up book with more designs.
