Section Two Reading Your Textbooks When it comes to textbook reading, preparation is just as important as reading the material. It is easy to find yourself just reading the textbook and then looking back at what your read and not remembering anything you just read. Trying to cram in all the information at once has never worked for anyone. College is a very fast paced environment and you are expected to keep up, now the best way to make sure that you do not miss any important information is by comparing notes with someone in your class who takes good notes.

I'm in charge of a First Year Experience program at a 4 year college and forever looking for a good book to help teach our students the necessary skills. The main attraction of this book is that it uses short peer reviewed papers to introduce various skills and subjects, so it can be used as a tool to teach how to read such texts. Beyond that, it had nothing more than what most of us are preparing in house an what the larger universities are providing on their web sites. I particularly wanted meaningful and engaging assignments, but was disappointed. It would serve as a single compiled resource if you have nothing better.

This book helped me greatly with studying, test taking, and time management. I am more successful because of the helpful tips that this book gave me to change my life not just in school, but in everyday situations too.

Rented the e-book version of this text book, and was disappointed to find that my professor requires the use of a Cengage learning media named Mindtap. Other students that have purchased the paperback have had this access code included with their purchase, however my e-book version for my kindle had no such resource. Keep this in mind while making your purchase and ask your professor if this access code will be needed while taking the course prior to making your decision. A $35 rental turned into well over $100, when I had to purchase the access code separately for $75.
Came in advertised condition.
