This title features cutting edge architecture and bold design. Whether the challenge is merely arranging furniture in a simple space, or an ambitious structural project, restaurants and bars are the sites of some of our most expressive architecture. More ephemeral than larger facilities or entire buildings, they are especially apt to capture the mood of the times. From a skyscraper rooftop in Bangkok to a beachfront in Brazil, here are places where design, architecture, food, and drink come together in inspiring, multi-sensory, encounters.

The best of contemporary architectural design (TASCHEN's 25th anniversary special edition) The creme de la creme of the most influential architects and architectural firms - the definitive reference guide to contemporary architectural design. Here you'll find famillar names, such as O. Gehry, Meier, Ando, Foster, and Starck, as well as a host of brilliant future stars. Highlights include Jakob & MacFarlane's morphological George Restaurant at the Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris, Diller & Scofidio's "Blur Building" proposal for the International Expo 2001 in Switzerland, and Herzog & De Meuron's remarkable Tate Modern. Arranged alphabetically by architect or firm, with biographical and contact information for designers and an extensive selection of photographs and illustrations, this volume presents the highlights of Architecture Now! Vol 1.

I don't know, maybe it's just me but there's so much exciting Architecture out there to choose from and unfortunately I didn't find this volume all that stimulating. I own the other volumes and have always been pleased and inspired by them but this one was headed back to sender, unfortunately I kept it beyond the 30 day trial period. Of all the volumes I'm going to reach for when I wish to be inspired this is NOT the one. Did I like it?....well maybe...kinda...ok I guess so. Is it one of my favorite volumes? Certainly NOT and if you have to choose ONE volume of the seven (7) for a favorite then this one is definitely in it's correct numerical order as it certainly isn't #1 if you know what I mean. However, I'm hoping that #8 displaces all the other volumes for the #1 slot.

This book has been out for ages and yet there are no other reviews? What's up with that? In fact I'm very surprised at the low number of reviews this series has elicited. Obviously it's not indicative of sales lest they wouldn't be on #7. All in all I think it's an excellent visual recap of what is going on in Architecture today just don't purchase Volume 7 if it's your first (#3, #5 & #6 are excellent).

Great Architecture book, plus the first one of Taschen's Architecture Now series.

Excellent review of numerous new architects working around the world. Fabulous photos and drawings of amazing buildings. The tri-lingual aspect makes it somewhat bulky and, unfortunately, the English text is in blue and somewhat harder to read than either the French or German.

The author of this book has done a fine job of showcasing recent modern architectural projects of interest to the general population, as well as to architects and structural engineers working in the profession. I am a structural engineer, and I purchased the book because two of my friends, and one of their projects, are featured in the book. I also happened to work on that paticular project, and was interested in having a published record of the project along with my own project files. The book is well written, has wonderful photographs, and is a fine addition to the genre of "coffee table architecture books". Mr. Jodidio is to be commended for writing this book.
