A former NSA agent trained in psychic controlled remote viewing, she makes her living as a part-time bounty hunter. But her badly needed rest is soon interrupted by an urgent request from the Organization-that she find the mysterious and disturbing female serial killer known only as L. Though untrained, L. is psychically aware of Mr. Elizabeth’s pursuit. When the two finally collide in New York City, an unlikely alliance forms between them as the two women plot an escape from the Organization’s forces.

M. Elizabeth is herself a paradox. She has crafted an otherwise quiet life for herself in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This is a life to which she happily retreats after each hunt and capture, a process that takes her deep into the mind of her prey.

Throughout The Inscrutable Mr. Elizabeth, I was not sure how I felt about it. The writing can be a little clunky at times, and it’s just such a strange plot, I thought. I really wanted to see how things were going to be wrapped up, and wow. Let me say this: I did not see that coming

Throughout The Inscrutable Mr. Let me say this: I did not see that coming. The ending is a little ridiculous, maybe, and possibly over-the-top, but that’s what made it enjoyable. If you’re looking for a really different, kind of disturbing read, I think this one is worth a read. Back to Featured Articles on.

“Mr.” Elizabeth is herself a paradox. A former NSA agent trained in psychic controlled remote viewing, she makes her living as a part-time bounty hunter. She has crafted an otherwise quiet life for herself in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This is a life to which she happily retreats after each hunt and capture, a process that takes her deep into the mind of her prey. That is, until she is called to find L., a mysterious and disturbing female serial killer. But L. too has psychic abilities and though untrained, is aware of Mr. Elizabeth’s presence. In New York City the search brings them together. Only then do they find that they have been manipulated and have both been “captured” by the Organization that first recruited and forced Elizabeth to use her psychic skills – for their purposes. Now Elizabeth is to train L., so that the Organization can use her powerful abilities. An unlikely alliance forms between the two women as they plot and then escape, a bond that grows stronger as they attempt to elude the forces of the Organization. However, the secrets between the two women grow even stranger as they begin to realize that neither of them are who they believe. Only after capture is a deadly secret revealed – one that will either destroy Elizabeth or heal her. And it is the very Organization that has played with her that will be the source of her salvation.

What an absorbing and entertaining read! I finally got around to reading THE INSCRUTABLE MR. ELIZABETH after it had been on my must-read list since summer. I'm glad I did! The main character, Elizabeth, is like a profiler you see working for detectives or homicide departments, and, once read about her, you're hooked because: (a) Her clairvoyance, i.e., her ability to merge with the minds of her targets is pretty awesome but, more importantly, (b) she's a fascinating, lovingly developed character with flaws, doubts and contradictions. The story switches gears once she finds her target, another woman who also has psychic powers (but more nascent), who's more volatile and vulnerable. When the two women meet, they sense a connection, and, after that, Leach assuredly takes another wild turn and brings us along for the ride as now her story becomes a fugitive tale of two women, both wanted by the government, who must now flee to survive. But where Leach really excels is in doing the tough stuff: Her characters are deeply damaged and abused souls and Leach eloquently writes about their inner pain, their past memories of trauma and how that weaves into the present. Finally, this is a story of self-acceptance, self-love and about (literally) destroying your demons. It's part detective thriller, part X-Files-meets-X-Men, part psychological character study. It's a wonderful demonstration of this writer's considerable abilities with multiple forms. Great work!

This is a fantastic piece of literature and I hope it comes as part of a series. I'm just sad it was so short. It only took about 45 minutes to finish (mind, I read fast). I was halfway through the book in no time at all, and was so fascinated and thrilled to be reading such a great psychological thriller that I almost wanted to put it down so I could enjoy it longer. But I couldn't. Too good. It's been...jeeze, years that I've been able to focus on a book like that (I have ADHD), and I can't wait till the next one comes out.

When you read the cover of the book you have no idea the path the author will take you down. It seemed a little slow at the beginning, but when Elizabeth meets Liz and they see what powers they have together, it is just amazing. But you'd just never guess how the plot evolves. I'm hoping there is a sequel to this book. I'd like to see where Mr. Elizabeth goes with her new powers.

i admire authors who choose to try something different and make it work. this book was certainly that. it wasn't hard to stumble onto the truth of the story about halfway through but it still didn't matter. the storyline is a good one, the writing is tight and to the point and it all showcases the author's skills. i can't say anything about the storyline because i do not want to give away the ending. just know that this is not a romance nor is it a spy/detective/action book. i guess thriller would be the closest category. i would have wished for a softer ending but it wasn't mine to write. if you like different, you might give this one a try.

The story was wonderfully written and kept you wanting to keep reading to see how the story of Elizabeth and Liz turned out. The book is a work of fiction and the story proves that, but it does what ever book should do it takes you to another place. I look forward to see what the author writes for her second book!

This is a fairly good book but not nessarly lesbian in nature, more a psychological-thriller, not at all what I expected but very good

Marlene Leach approaches paranormal behavior, psychology, and government agencies with a slightly different twist, eliciting a full range of emotions from the reader. I didn't "like" the book's underlying topic, but was engaged nonetheless with its well-crafted plot, character-development, and suggested romance.
This book kept me going. I couldn't put it down. So looking forward to the sequel. Can't wait for it to be on Amazon.....so excited!!!!
