I purchased yoga mind and body, yoga your home practice companion, and the sivananda companion to yoga. Poses shown in 1-3 levels, so you can progress your Yoga practice. I have done yoga sporadically for 10 years, but wanted to start at the beginning because i've had three kids and that changes your body. I liked the yoga your home practice companion the best because its basically the same info as mind and body but the hardback lays flat and open in front of you and there are more pictures. One of the BEST books on Yoga and I've been practicing for years.

I have had a home practice for years, but I depend on books and magazines for sequences. (The best I had found so far is Rodney Yee's 8 week program, by the way.) This book is perfect for me. It has a large number of sequences, and they are indexed by either focus or duration so you can choose what your body needs when you practice. And thanks to the clever split page construction you can flip to notes on each pose if you like while still keeping the sequence page open. There are also some general notes about each sequence and pose that are helpful and informative. The approach is Iyengar-based - my preference as well. And they include a lot of different poses - another plus.

I thought this sort of book would be more common - something that gives you lots of options to choose from each day and is also easy to refer to while you are on the mat. In fact, this is the only one like it that I've found. Hurray! - it has reinvigorated my home practice.

This is one of the best how-to books on creating your own yoga practice that I have found. It is uniquely organized to either use some of the practices the authors suggest or to completely develop your own depending on your needs and abilities. I had the pleasure of taking some classes with Cindy Dollar and she is truly a fantastic teacher and that translates well into this book. She is totally committed to teaching yoga "the right way" and giving her students a sound and solid foundation. If you can find this book, I highly recommend it.

This book was recommended by our local yoga instructor. The spiral binding makes the book lie flat. I really like the split pages with the practices on one side (very wide range from beginner to advanced) and the poses on the other. Arrangement is very simple and straightforward. The teacher kept this book out as a constant reference--which was a good enough recommendation for me--and she is a certified Iyengar instructor with years of practice.
