Psychology and the Challenges of Life: Adjustment and Growth.

Herbert Spencer (27 April 1820 – 8 December 1903) was an English philosopher, biologist, anthropologist, sociologist, and prominent classical liberal political theorist of the Victorian era. Spencer developed an all-embracing conception of evolution. Spencer developed an all-embracing conception of evolution as the progressive development of the physical world, biological organisms, the human mind, and human culture and societies. Rathus is known for his warm, encouraging writing style, and applied approach to learning. As the first member of his family to attend college, he struggled through dry and technical books that didn't resonate with him. His goal is to write textbooks that excite and motivate today's students, through humor, personal examples, and a clear pedagogical framework. Watching his own four children grow and develop has provided Spence with first-hand experience in child development.
