Out of the half dozen Morning Sun "in color" books I have, I feel "Maine Central in Color" does the best job at putting the railroad in context and giving an "insider's view" of it. I found the captions that accompany the pictures much more informative than I expected. They often include more than just a description of what the photo is, and go on to either give the history of the location or information about the operations being portrayed in the picture. Xangeo

This book is organized geographically and moves the reader around the map, describing various key points on the MEC line, always accompanied by pictures. The smaller branches, such as the Cobbosseeconte are including as well, though as one might expect there are less pictures of these smaller branches.

If I had to come up with a complaint it would be that I wish the places the chapters covered were colored differently on the map. It's a bit tedious to turn the page and read about such'n'such junction, then spend 10 minutes hunting all over the map to find exactly where it is.
Phobism
If you want to see older pictures of the Maine Central as it used to be this is your book. Not only does it have great color photos of MEC, but it has interesting info about the trains and the areas in which they traveled.
If you remember the Maine Central in it's old Green and Gold, Marron and Gold, or Harvest Yellow and Green this is something you need to look at. It brought me back to those days when my father took me to the train yards to watch the trains leave for there many diffrent destination.
Get this book and you won't be disapointed.
