Mainly, the the Germans didn't want to admit that Hitler was a lunatic carcass, so a story of Wagnerian suicide had to be invented. Still, a wildy en No idea if it's true, but a great yarn. I stayed with it because of the descriptions of Hitler as a farting, soup-covered zombie. I hope that was how he ended his days.

Hugh Thomas is not only a prolific author, and one of the United Kingdoms top forensic authorities, Baron in the English peerage, hardly someone who is going to peddle 'idiotic and uneducated' theories about the fate of Adolf Hitler. Whether you agree with his conclusions or not (I, personall, am undecided) you cannot deny they are well thought out and compelling. An Interesting and VERY Plausable Theory on Hitler's Demise. com User, March 1, 2006. Most historians believe that Hitler committed suicide and that Eva Braun died with him.

Thomas goes on to insist that the female body found in the bunker was not that of Eva Braun but a double. The ""corpse"" of Martin Borman, Hitler's personal secretary, was similarly misidentified, permitting Borman to escape to South America. Thomas challenges many of these points. Of course, the diagnosis suffers from the fact that the physician is rendering judgment 50 years later, based on second-hand observations. But this section is the stronger part of the book.

Conspiracy theories about Adolf Hitler's death contradict the fact that he committed suicide in the Führerbunker on 30 April 1945

Conspiracy theories about Adolf Hitler's death contradict the fact that he committed suicide in the Führerbunker on 30 April 1945. Most of these theories hold that Hitler and his wife, Eva Braun, survived and escaped from Berlin, Germany, and Europe. While these theories have received some exposure in popular culture, these viewpoints are regarded by historians and scientific experts as disproven fringe theories.

The ‘theories’ of Hugh Thomas, Doppelgànger: The Truth about the Bodies in the Berlin Bunker, London, 1995 - that Hitler was strangled by Linge, and that the female body burned was not that of Eva Braun, who escaped from the bunker, belong in fairyland. главная форум контакты карта сайта правила.

Since the end of World War II, it has become widely accepted that Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun died together in a suicide pact as Soviet armies entered Berlin. The man whose monstrous ambitions began the war did not sign the German surrender, nor was he brought to justice at the Nuremberg trials. Instead, the Allies were presented with a set of charred remains, mysteriously missing one foot.Next to him was the body, also burned, of a woman wrapped in one of Eva Braun's dresses. Although the woman had died from shrapnel wounds to the chest, a capsule containing cyanide had been placed in her mouth and forcibly broken; her jaw was then closed. It was supposed to look like suicide. It was supposed to be Eva Braun. It was neither. It is now possible to reconstruct the events that led to the horrific scenario in the bunker. Using previously unavailable material from the archives of the Soviet authorities who captured Berlin and first investigated the deaths, and drawing upon a wide range of personal, medical, and forensic testimony, Hugh Thomas reveals exactly what took place as the inevitability of German defeat became apparent and the command structure of the Third Reich collapsed.

What Murder of Adolf Hitler? Everyone knows over 70 knows he shot himself as the war closed in on him back in 1945 right ? Wait Until you read Hugh Thomas has found. Thomas is not just a writer but a surgeon as well and one heck of a detective. As he laid out the facts of what was happening from people that were there plus documents from various sources he convinced me that what is generally thought happen and what did happen are not always the same. His easy to understand manner of writing won me over to being a fan. He also wrote a book about Himmler and one about Rudolf Hess Winners both If you like history studies you will like " Murder of Hitler "

Hugh Thomas does an outstanding job of laying out his case that Hitler did not die by his own hand in the bunker. I am not a giant conspiracy theory guy, but I believe Hugh Thomas makes his case well and I am convinced he is on the right track. I think an important piece of the puzzle was neglected in Thomas's book which makes his theory even more believable, and this piece comes from Feist's book, "INSIDE HITLER'S BUNKER". I think the relationship between Hermann Fegelein and Eva Braun is underplayed in Thomas's book, and once this relationship is understood, it makes Hugh Thomas's theory on what happened in those last days in the bunker entirely believable. No one will ever know for certain what happened, as Heinz Linge, Martin Bormann, and Artur Axmann brought the secret to their graves with them, but I think Feist's book and Thomas's books combined give the best picture of that last week in the madhouse which was the Fuhrer's bunker. Overall, an excellent and thought provoking book, no matter if you agree with its theory or not. This is a "must read" for students of the Reich.

Like a great detective, Thomas explores and thoroughly checks every scrap of evidence before he comes to conclusions. His forensic background only heightens his credibility and serves to convince you even more as you read this intrigueing story. Thomas goes to great lengths to reconstruct what actually happened in those last few weeks in the bunker and afterwards, and is quite convincing in doing so. Was Hitler actually murdered and did things occur the way Thomas surmizes? The world may never know as all living evidence is now gone. This is a most fascinating detective story that will make you think and wonder.

"The Murder of Adolf Hitler" is the re-published name of the book: "Doppelgängers: The Truth about the Bodies in the Berlin Bunker." It has some interesting conspiracy theories, speculation and conjecture. In the end it makes for good fiction reading or as the author states, "surmise". The author would have had a more reasonable theory if he said that Linge, under orders, shot Hitler. This happening post suicide because Hitler was not able to do it due to his shaking condition (which may have been due to Parkinson's or minor stroke's over time) and because Hitler had been unsure the poison would do it's job.

SPOILER ALERT: Instead the author states, Linge strangled Hitler after trying to stuff a cyanide capsule in his mouth! Hitler and an Eva double were burned and the SS guards let the real Eva escape!

The fact is this book has been debunked. See: "The Death of Adolf Hitler" by Ada Petrova and Peter Watson (a book which has it's own problems but does a good job in questioning this book above); "The Last Days of Hitler: The Legends, the Evidence, the Truth" by Anton Joachimsthaler. Further for Linge's full account of Hitler's death, see: "The Hitler Book" by Henrik Eberle and Matthias Uhl and Linge's re-published memoirs, "With Hitler to the End: The Memoir of Hitler's Valet".

Lastly, it should be noted, Sir Ian Kershaw (the acclaimed historian) stated in his 2000 book, "Hitler 1936-1945 - Nemesis" on page 1037, "The 'theories' of Hugh Thomas that Hitler was strangled by Linge, and that the female body burned was not that of Eva Braun, who escaped from the bunker, belong in fairyland."

This book is pretty nuts. I hope it wasn't written by some evil white supremecist fellow. The title kind of popped out at me. I had a laugh. I don't know if it was intended to be a novelty book, but that's what it is for me. Still, this book is effective. You wonder about this bizarre conspiracy. I'm not sure if Hitler really did blow his head off anymore. Not that I really care, but it is kind of funny.

The only people who would enjoy this book are those who are convinced that aliens have abucted them and hijacked them to other universes. This book is pure science fiction from start to finish and poorly written fiction. Let's get down to brass tacks:
The evidence that Hitler and Eva Braun died in the Berlin bunker at 3:30 in the afternoon on April 30, 1945 is irrefutible. Both commited suicide. There are multiple eyewitnesses who saw the corpses and who survived to tell the story, either in Russian captivity, on American TV or to dozens of different historians over the years. All saw Eva Braun dead and saw her incinerated in the garden of the Chancellery.
Only the most perverted and uneducated mind could possibly believe for a single milesecond that Eva Braun escaped from the Bunker. Aside from the fact that almost no one escaped alive and got into the American sector at this impossibly late date, what would Eva's motive have been? Hmmm?? She risked her life by traveling to Berlin to die at Hitler's side. He rewarded her loyalty by marrying her the day before their joint suicide. According to the author, Eva then (inexplicably) deserts Hitler and successfully escapes from the Bunker?
Never mind that this is a physical and emotional impossibility for her. Forget that there are no eyewitnesses, either in the Bunker or anyone who saw her alive after 4-30-45. Let's sweep under the carpet that Eva, a devoted family person, never bothered to visit or see her parents again, or her two sisters, Gretl or Ilse.
This book is insulting in its premise, torpid in style and ridiculous in all areas. Avoid it like the plague, it's pure fantasy.
