Moda Polska (Young Poland) emerged between 1890 and 1918. A. Merchant examines the impact of a contemporary movement, Irish-Ireland, on Polish culture during the same period

Moda Polska (Young Poland) emerged between 1890 and 1918. It was a unique movement in which Polish intellectuals attempted to combine native forms of expression with the ideals of European modernism to create artistically innovative and inherently Polish work. Merchant examines the impact of a contemporary movement, Irish-Ireland, on Polish culture during the same period. He traces both Young Poland and Irish-Ireland's ideas of culture and politics while analyzing their geopolitical differences.

Henry awarded his Irish territories to his youngest son John with the title Dominus .

Henry awarded his Irish territories to his youngest son John with the title Dominus Hiberniae ("Lord of Ireland"). When John unexpectedly succeeded his brother as King John, the "Lordship of Ireland" fell directly under the English Crown. Henry was happily acknowledged by most of the Irish Kings, who perhaps saw in him a chance to curb the expansion of both Leinster and the Hiberno-Normans. While the Norman political impact was considerable, it was untidy and not uniform, and the stresses on the Lordship in 1315–48 meant that de facto control of most of Ireland slipped from its grasp for over two centuries. A. Merchant examines the impact of a contemporary movement, Irish-Ireland, on Polish culture during the same period. He traces both Young Poland and Irish-Ireland's ideas of culture and politics while analyzing their geopolitical differences. Of all the different cultural and political influences that helped shape Young Poland, the Irish-Ireland movement represents one of the most intriguing and, historically, the most overlooked.
