Barbara Willard wrote many adult novels before venturing into children's fiction; late in her writing career came the historical series known as the Mantlemass novels, and it is for these that she is now chiefly remembered. In 1967 she published A Grove of Green Holly (not one of the series) about a group of 17th century travelling players, hiding from Cromwell's soldiers in Ashdown Forest in Sussex, encountering iron workers and forest ways.

Barbara Mary Willard (12 March 1909 – 18 February 1994) was a British novelist best known for children's historical fiction. Her "Mantlemass Chronicles" is a family saga set in 15th to 17th-century England. For one chronicle, The Iron. For one chronicle, The Iron Lily (1973), she won the annual Guardian Children's Fiction Prize, a once-in-a-lifetime book award judged by panel of British children's writers.
According to the Guinness Book of Records she is the world’s most prolific writer, still 3. 2) producing a new book every two weeks, and holds the record as the world’s top-selling author, having sold some 370 million copies of her books. She wrote her first book when she was twenty-one and it sold out as soon as it reached the shops. 4. 1) After that she has written over 500 books. She married in 1927, and after she divorced her first husband, she remarried in 1936.
The Pharisees (פְּרוּשִׁים in Hebrew) are recurring villains in the Four Gospels of the New Testament. Though they make themselves appear holy to other people, deep down they were more concerned with the Law and not their fellow Jews. Because of this, they have found themselves going against Jesus several times in the Gospels.

Pharisees claimed Mosaic authority for their interpretation of Jewish Laws, while Sadducees represented the authority of the priestly privileges and prerogatives established since the days of Solomon, when Zadok, their ancestor, officiated as High Priest. The Pharisees believed that the idea that all of the children of Israel were to be like priests was expressed elsewhere in the Torah, for example, when the Law itself was transferred from the sphere of the priesthood to every man in Israel (Exodus 19: 29–24; Deuteronomy 6: 7, 11: 19; comp. 31: 9; Jeremiah 2: 8, 18:18).
