Boff is one of the key figures in liberation theology. I always find his perspective on St. Francis and St. Clare to give me insights that deepen my own understanding of their lives and work. I recommend this book, which is a biography and theological analysis, and his book on the prayer of St. Francis. Great theologian.

A very well written discussion of the social and political implications of Francis. The book emphasizes the concept of rich vs poor and power vs powerful.
It does this while keeping the concept and person always in view.
