Few believe the tribe exists-and even fewer suspect its deity may hold knowledge that can change the course of history.

Reading a Clive Cussler novel is like watching several movies at once. I always enjoy reading the Clive Cussler books. He's a master of the jump cut, moving the action from one continent to another with an entirely different cast of characters, good guys and bad, in each place. He always manages to pull the various characters, plots, and counterplots together, though, and the heroes always triumph in the end after saving the world from eco-terrorists, megalomaniacs with their ambitions primed for world domination, and a few regular old criminals thrown in for good measure.

A Kurt Austin Adventure

In Serpent, his New York Times bestseller, Clive Cussler introduced Kurt Austin, a hero for the new millennium, and "created a new bunch of NUMA supersleuths who infused his work with a...jolt of energy" (The Denver Post). Now Austin and his crew slake their thirst for action as they attempt to drown an eco-extortionist's plan to control the world's freshwater supply.

BLUE GOLD

A Novel from the NUMA Files

From deep within the Venezuelan rain forest emanates the legend of a white goddess and a mysterious tribe with startling technical accomplishments. Few believe the tribe exists -- and even fewer suspect its deity may hold knowledge that can change the course of history.

For National Underwater & Marine Agency crew leader Kurt Austin, an investigation into the sudden deaths of rare whales leads him to the Mexican coast, where someone tries to put him and his mini-sub permanently out of commission. Meanwhile, in South America's lush hills, a specially assigned NUMA crew turns up the white-goddess legend -- and a murderous cadre of bio-pirates intent on stealing medicinal secrets worth millions. Soon Austin and his crew realize they're working the opposite ends of the same grand scheme. A billionaire California tycoon is poised to rise to power by monopolizing the earth's vastly depleted freshwater reserves and ultimately dominate the world.

Austin has a hunch Venezuela's mythical tribal goddess has some real roots in science, and may be the key to locating a secret formula that could turn vast amounts of seawater into fresh. But with each step into the bush, he and his NUMA team feel like fish out of water -- and must fight a deadly, twisting trail of enemies through a dense jungle of treachery, blackmail, and murder.

HOT TAMALE CLIVE you sure got a winner with this here Masterizzazione. From kidnapping and 10 years with a White godess amogst the wild canibiles to a majestic Norshman war ship then a Flying wing buried in an Alascan ice Cave with a 50 year Protcol and a tunnel under the wood shower. And finally arriving on old padallboat steamer and the death of a 7 foot tall evil bitch and the unfortunate death of the HERO of this book whom I will not reveal for future readers.HA HA.

Big time Cussler fan. (34th read). This one easily makes the top 5 so far. Good plot line with world-wide water piracy the theme and the NUMA team as the stopper as you would expect. Boat race segment was a bit of a stretch for belief, but was minor in comparison to the strong characters and great adventure woven into the rest of the tale. A tale that involved Bio-medicine exploitation, a long disappeared scientist discovered to be a living white goddess jungle queen and sinister corporate conspirators joining a 'Nordic' giantess in attempted world subjugation as sub-themes . Very enjoyable!

This was a very good book. The setting and object of the criminal enterprise was approached by vastly different pieces of the completed puzzle. I wondered when I would find the solution as each adventure occurred.
Clive Cussler is an unusual author and always presents a good book. This book would be a great movie if the story retained its original version in the movie script.

Kurt and Hi are two of my favorite characters. They have been well developed over the life of the NUMA series, but is always fun to fill in New biography information. I thought I could feel water during the yacht race. The color and humidity of the jungle were palpable. It was a farfetched plot but only too believable in today's world. On to the next Cussler collaboration.

Assignment series. Yet in both of first two series books we never really understand Kurt Austin's motivation except that it's the right thing to do. I think there's needs to be a more in depth character development of both Kurt and Joe. I enjoyed the book , yet I look forward to learning as much about Kurt Austin and Joe Zavala, as Dirk Pitt and Al Giordano in other Clive Cussler novels.

I always enjoy reading the Clive Cussler books. Even though The Oregon Files are my favorite, I still enjoy reading the others that he has. The NUMA files, Issac Bell and Fargo Adventures are all great reads. This one envolves Kurt Austin, involved in the Venezuelan rain forest. Adventure, intrigue, mystery, who done it and who will be the next to face the deadly foe, out to destroy the secrets of the rain forest.
Thoughout his career, Clive Cussler has given us villains mostly in the Dr. No or Goldfinger mode--mercantile tycoon types who pull some sort of mega-holdup that endangers the world. And this continues, despite the success of efforts like "The X Files", which articulate the current trendy view that Government--an Orwellian "Big Brother"--is the Antichrist. Corporate America is never--repeat--NEVER the bad guy (whatta you, some kinda Red?) except for Bill Gates--he's fair game because he's a nerd. But Cussler still sticks to his Superbad Guys, and as such, makes it clear that he still loves his country. That the weenies who gave us "The X Files" still do is not so clear. In this book, we have a Nordic Valkyrie who's planning up to exploit the growing water shortage and setting up an aqua-OPEC to gouge the thirsty. If you can afford it, bottoms up. If not, you die of thirst. What delicious evil in an age when the "proper term" for evil people is "dysfunctional"! In this time of ambiguities and moral and philosphical relativism, I LOVE an author who calls a spade a spade! To paraphrase 1960s country/ comic singer Larry Verne; "please Mr. Cussler...don'tcha ever go!"
