Helen) Beatrix Potter (1866-1943) was an English author and illustrator, botanist, and conservationist, born in Kensington, London best known for her children's books, which featured animal characters such as Peter Rabbit. Educated at home by a successi. Potter had frogs and newts, and even a pet bat. The basis of her many projects and stories were the small animals that she smuggled into the house or observed during family holidays in Scotland and the Lake District.

Beatrix Potter is one of the world's best-loved children's authors of all time. From her first book, The Tale of Peter Rabbit (1902) she went on to create a series of stories based around animal characters including Mrs Tiggy-winkle, Mr Jeremy Fisher and Tom Kitten. Her humorous, lively tales and beautiful illustrations have become a natural part of childhood. A source of inspiration was the Lake District where she lived for the last thirty years of her life as a farmer and conservationist.

For example, today my sister was sitting on the couch, having The Tale of Tom Kitten read to her by our mother

This does not detract from the tale or its visual appeal, for the illustrations have their own charm and suit the book perfectly. In this story there were three little kittens, Mittens, Moppet and Tom Kitten who used to roll about and play in the dust and dirt. For example, today my sister was sitting on the couch, having The Tale of Tom Kitten read to her by our mother.

I have only read one other book by this author before reading The Tale of Tom Kitten. I like these books mostly for having seen Miss Potter, but the little kittens are adorable and of course I love the paintings. mirikayla, February 8, 2016. The pictures are adorable, the story is cute, and I think younger children and their parents would enjoy reading about the naughty deeds of the three kittens in the story.

My kids really enjoy any story from Beatrix Potter, which is fine by me because I loved her stories as a child

The books are small and so beautifuuly illustrated, with many pages to turn, that the story moves along at warp speed. Wonderful stories for all children, boys and girls. My kids really enjoy any story from Beatrix Potter, which is fine by me because I loved her stories as a child. Sure this version of the story for Kindle is not illustrated, so I read the story to my kids at bed time and told them to close their eyes and use their imagination.

Helen) Beatrix Potter (1866-1943) was an English author and illustrator, botanist, and conservationist. This is the verbiage only of The Tale of Ginger and Pickles. It's a gentle tale about economics, which could also be interpreted as a lesson on how being too trusting or helping others without any thought for one's own preservation can lead to downfall. It does not include Beatrix Potter's lovely illustrations, but the story is still very impactful.

(Helen) Beatrix Potter (1866-1943) was an English author and illustrator, botanist, and conservationist, born in Kensington, London best known for her children's books, which featured animal characters such as Peter Rabbit. Educated at home by a succession of governesses, she had little opportunity to mix with other children. Potter had frogs and newts, and even a pet bat. The basis of her many projects and stories were the small animals that she smuggled into the house or observed during family holidays in Scotland and the Lake District. She was encouraged to publish her story, The Tale of Peter Rabbit (1902), but she struggled to find a publisher until it was accepted when she was 36, by Frederick Warne & Co. The small book and her following works were extremely well received and she gained an independent income from the sales. Potter eventually wrote 23 books. These were published in a small format, easy for a child to hold and read. Her writing efforts abated around 1920 due to poor eyesight.

A true classic! I LOVE all of Beatrix Potter's stories! When I read her tales I'm transported to the world her characters live in and I'm joining in the characters adventures, especially Tom Kitten and his sisters. Who wouldn't love to be with them and the mischief they get into? I read this to my 7 year old niece and 5 year old nephew who absolutely loved the story. Yes, I did have to explain the meaning of some words to them, especially some British English, but they quickly caught on and were absolutely thrilled and delighted with the story and its characters. My only complaint with Beatrix Potter's books is with the small size of the pictures. I would love it if the publishers produced editions with larger pictures so children could better see the tale as it visually unfolds for them. It would also make it easier for us adults to show the pictures as we read the story to the little ones.

This is a charming tale and all of the content is there, but the lovely drawings are all in gray-scale. I suppose that when I give this to my grand daughter I will tell her about the fun she will have using this as a coloring book. I am very disappointedl

It was a small book, in lightly used condition, with the cute story of Tom Kitten. My baby is too young to appreciate it, but I liked it. I enjoy that it is a small book. Easy to read one handed and could fit in a diaper bag easy for travel.

Beatrix Potter is a wonderful author! I definitely recommend these books for children. There are plenty to choose from as well! The book is around the size of an adult hand and is a hardback cover.

Purchased as a gift. These are the best repros of original. I was looking for something as close to the originals as possible. Story and illustrations are spot on. Purchase as a new baby gift . Arrived earlier than scheduled which was great.

For a board book version of the tale, it was really good. But of course, after you've cut your baby teeth, you'll want to move on the the full story. Which is great.
