I remain a huge fan of this series involving a telepathic freelance operative investigating hi-tech crimes sometime in the near future. Everything that I loved from book one is here, albeit the page count of this installment is a great deal bigger. With that increased page count comes a lot more world building, and some fleshed out characters in an ensemble cast that a smaller book couldn’t accommodate. And quite frankly, all that extra character work and world building was fascinating and handled incredibly well. That said, I still feel this series works better when the title hero is kept more front and center and the story follows the hero primarily rather than spending so much time leveraging an ensemble cast of characters. For that reason, and that reason alone, I went four stars with this installment versus the 5 star rating I gave book one. That said, I’m eager to get on with book 3, and just wish he’d kept this series going a bit longer.

Still more brilliant Sci Fi writing that is a challenge to the reader. This is not the best of Peter Hamilton, still it holds up well as a more 'recent' future tale. It has a strong element of mystery and balloons over the ocean action. The climax is strong and satisfying. Perhaps it is the last we will hear of Greg and the mindstar.

Another superb demonstration of excellent writing skills by Peter Hamilton and a great final novel in the Greg Mandel series. The story picks up t some years (maybe 15 or so) after the last book (A Quantum Murder) ended, and kept up a high pace till the final chapter. Lots of mystery and intrigue between multiple (5) parties evolved in race for a game changing technology (atomic structuring). The story comes together nicely with a interesting plot twist in the final pages. Worth the read.

Mind boggling plots, impressive writing power, original deus ex machinas, twists, high brow science principles that actually make me visit all kinds of wiki websites or even the CERN websites (in the sense of: I need to find out about this if I want to understand what it is about) -holy cow!- in short: unbelievably well done. Raw creativity thrown at you by the bucket, full of variations, I could and should go on but alas, when I reread myself, it becomes science-fiction and I need to re-edit in order to remain credible.

I loved the character and I loved the 3 part series, this being the last! Nano is just a brilliant book hands down! Typical of Hamilton is his visionary imagination and visionary is an understatement. I wish I was around in the next 300 years to see it all come true. What I am absolutely sure about is the technology and the science masterfully woven throughout his novels will come to pass or at the very least a version of it. But I digress. The review of this book is extremely favourable, arguably the best of the three. Don't delay, get online, buy all three in a bundle, save a heap of money and read the suckers! I envy you, you're in for a treat!

i have read this twice just to enjoy it more and bought a copy for my brother as well. it's nice to have a clean, coherent, volume 3. though each of his greg mandel books stands well on its own, this one caps the series and leads into future works. peter hamilton may be the most innovative sf writer of the 21st century. It is set in the UK and allows you to get a different slant on everything.
In this third and (so far) final installment of the Greg Mandel series, Hamilton brings the trilogy to a new level. The story is fast-paced, with some of the most intense action scenes I've ever read. As usual, the characters are well drawn and the setting is realistic and detailed. After the disappointing "A Quantum Murder", this is a wonderful way to conclude the series. Recommended if you enjoy fast-paced, near-future SF.
