The hero of Love in the Time of Cholera, ladies and gentlemen. Let's give him a round of applause. If anyone wants to join me in the corner, I will be staying here for the rest of the week. I was intruiged by the title "Love in the Time of Cholera" so I thought I'd read it. Within the first few pages I had the inkling I didn't like it, but sometimes it takes books a little while to get warmed up. Plus, I don't like starting a book and not finishing it, because I know I'll never go back to a book I stopped reading because I didn't like it, and if I stop reading it, I'll never know if I would have liked the rest of it. So I forged ahead and completed the whole book.

I can see why Gabriel Garcia Marquez won the Nobel Prize for literature. The book has a very unique style. One is that "some critics choose to consider Love in the Time of Cholera as a sentimental story about the enduring power of true love. Others criticize this opinion as being too simple. It is more like painting a picture with words than telling a story in the usual sense. In a painting you can move your focus, look around and see different parts quickly, then maybe study some details.

'Love in the Time of Cholera,'' Gabriel Garcia Marquez's radiant new novel, is at once an old-fashioned love story, elegantly fashioned out of the clockwork pieces of romantic fiction (secret love letters, unrequited passions, noisy declarations of undying devotion and long, melancholy honeymoons spent at sea), and an anatomy of love in all its forms: the gushy, irrational love of adolescents and the mature love of people who have suffered loss and grief; the high-flown love, immortalized by poets, and the love without love found in bordellos and motels; marital love.
However, this book Love in the Time of Cholera is not less intere. sting and fascinating. Here strong love and unrestrained passion are interlaced. In this fictional world we see the fates of three people who are to be together for more than fifty years creating a peculiar love triangle that consists of Florentino Ariza who loves boundlessly charming Fermina Daza. Although many years ago the woman preferred another man, Dr. Juvenal Urbin, Ariza cannot do anything with his love. The story is very bright and creative, full of hopes and romance.
