About The Marketplace Series

About The Marketplace Series. Merchandise does not come easily to the Marketplace. It never has. In years past, just finding the Marketplace required a mix of personal dedication, passion, and the investment of a great deal of time. The creators always intended it to be that way. If it were easy to find, we would be overwhelmed by applicants. As it is, far too many intermediate applicants appear on the edges of the Marketplace, their eyes wide with pleading and frustration.

The second book in Laura Antoniou's contemporary BDSM classic series about The Marketplace. Robin wants to be a slave in the underground world of the Marketplace. She falls under the tutelage of the infamous trainer Chris Parker and spends an intense few weeks with him. Little does she know that her adventures as a slave are just beginning.

The Marketplace series is BDSM fiction by Laura Antoniou. The books main focus is the training of slaves. And each book offers compelling characters that unfold into an extraordinary story and world. I read the first Marketplace books (The Marketplace, The Slave and The Trainer) back in the 90's, and I loved them then. Since that time, Antoniou has continued the Chronicles of Chris and Robin (my unofficial title) through 3 more books (The Academy, The Reunion and The Inheritor).

I may have started the series out of order by starting with this book, but it captivated me into buying and reading the remainder of the series. The depth of rich characters, the intelligent writing and world just a bit outside of our own makes this books one of my favorites.

It is impossible to put the entire Marketplace set down for any length of time. I bought these to update my worn out set because I return to the world of the Marketplace as often as possible. Laura Antoniou is an amazing writer with the ability to pull you into a world so unbelievable yet so realistic that you cannot help but to believe. She is a master of her craft and I have enjoyed every piece of her writing. I am eagerly waiting for the next Marketplace book... The Inheritor... as well as the sequel to The Killer Wore Leather.

Laura strikes again. Her books are the real deal, not fluff that i usually find online. The sex is part of the control, not that the control is part of the sex, big difference for those that have experiences real BDSM.

The Marketplace books are realistic even in fiction. Not that such a organization exists but that the scenes reflect what a power exchange relationship works at both its low and high points.

With The Slave Laura Antoniou establishes herself at the top of the erotic heap. This book is an excellent example of the MS genre of BDSM, Ds etc. Truly excellent and if you have been disappointed with books in this sub genre then this may change your mind. Robin has wanted to be a slave for years and had two semi successful SM relationships when Chris (from The Marketplace) agrees to train her for auction as a slave in two weeks. Chris and Robin are two of the main characters of the series which is notable for well drawn and compelling characters. The plot is good and there is notable humor as when Robin dates Greg in college and after all but writing "blindfold me tie up and be a pirate" he, being thick as a brick and about as sensitive, just brings condoms! The scene where Chris turns up to start her training is also good--he's wearing black jeans, engineering boots, motorcycle jacket with a dress shirt and tie--Robin thinks Ivy-league Angels their motto is, Think Yiddish, Dress British, and Ride American. There are a lot of humorous monuments as when Robin finds out who she is sold to. Lots of well written erotic scenes including same sex.

This is written nonlinearly and Laura Antoniou is very successful in pulling it off and making the stile aid telling the story instead of being a cutesy pooh gimmick.

Very well done and overall excellent, even if you have been turned off by some of the material this bock could change your mind.

Ms. Antoniou does an amazing job capturing the mind set of those who find joy in service. The distinct lack of fanciful princes and princesses, in addition to a lack of emotional abuse, leaves us with a realistic, healthy, and ultimately believable story.

It was wonderful to follow the journey from novice to well trained slave. Overall a great representation of an alternative lifestyle.

Plus, it's super hot. :)

I picked this up for kindel so I can have in on vacation with other books to read. I have read it twice now in the original soft cover book form I bought from Antoniou year ago. If you are truly wanting to explore the bdsm fiction then just buy this and all the other "Market Place" books already.

I found The Slave to be a nice difference from the first book in the series, The Marketplace. The relationship between Chris Parker and his trainee, Robin is something that made this book one I have reread over and over. It was interesting to see what happened to a slave in the Marketplace during auction and what happens after purchase. I also enjoyed reading about how characters from The Marketplace book had progressed after their training with Alexandra and Grendel. All in all, I think it's a good read for anyone who understands some of the ins and outs of the BDSM lifestyle. While this is fiction, many elements are very true to life.
I first read The Marketplace years ago. Then I read it again... and again... and again. It was definately one of my favorites of this genre, but one can only read the same book so many times without getting bored. Imagine my delight when an online friend happened to reccomend The Marketplace SERIES to me. What? I'm quite familiar with The Marketplace, but there are MORE!?!?! Oh my yes, and The Slave, book #2 in the wonderful series was every bit as good as the first if not better.

I was so glad that I had ordered the Trainer when I ordered The Slave, as I was ready to jump right in once I finished The Slave. Excellent read.
