I read this book in one sitting. These girls grew up in the most difficult enviornment possible and I can't help but admire them very much! While reading this book you will experience so many feelings. Hatred, abuse, filth, and murder. The sisters who lived through it all, sticking together all the while, only find the truth once they are grown women with children of their own. They did forgive even though it is likely they still wait for peace. We can all admire these two as children and as grown ladies! They kept going!!!

Contrary to a recent review, this book is not at all "POINTLESS". Perhaps "Mrs. Cleaver" has never felt shame such as the two little girls must have felt as they were growing up in such conditions. Perhaps she never had the need to sacrifice herself or live life shackled to the restraints of the past. Or, perhaps she has and a nerve was struck. What ever the case, anyone having been through any type of therapy knows that opening up and acknowledging is the hardest part of overcoming and surpassing any situation, especially when deep seated emotions are invloved. Granted, there are some editing issues that I feel the publisher should have caught, but the recent criticizer- I mean critic- is overlooking how much courage it must have taken to open what must have been painful wounds and then tell people. This story may be "common", as she stated, but knowing that we are not alone in our situations can make a difference. Just verbalizing it can ease the mind and begin to heal the heart. As for myself, I am not at all certain I could forgive such a life and continue caring as they did. After all, their mother murdered their father and 50 years of her lies crashed in front of them. This had to have made an impact on them. Even if you can not relate to the content, the story, itself, is an interesting one. Thank you, Ma'am, for your point of view, but I, myself, would like to know more about them and how they were able to "turn the other cheek".

After reading the first page, I wondered; did no one proof-read or edit this book before it was published? The poor grammar and awful writing skills of the author make it almost a punishment to read. I persevered because I thought the story might teach me something important about human nature, or the struggle to survive against insurmountable odds; instead, this is an all-too familiar tale of a mother who had children too young and did not care for them. Nothing more. The build-up that the author tries to give, to imply that some dark scandal would be uncovered, or some deep truth learned by the girls that is important to their lives was a complete fraud. Please do not waste your time on this dreadful book.

I could not put this book down once I started it. We can all learn a lot from the experience that these two little girls lived through. The lies and deception that they lived through was truly awesome and disgusting. Yet through it all they grew into very strong women who overcame incredible hurdles in their life. Truly a movie worth story to tell. Congratulations Keith on an excellent literay accomlplishment.

I feel sorry for these two ladies and what they went through in their lives as this is a true story, but this book is just not worth reading. I wish I could say something positive but I can't think of anything. I wish I had not spent money on this book. It is now in my "donate to the library" pile.

I love books concerning Southern roots and heritage. This book certainly accounts for that. Like all good books, it involves secrets, murdur and lies. And to know its a true story makes it even more interesting. I could see where Mr. Coachman could write a continuation of this book. Hope to see more of his writtings.

The Title was very appropriate considering the life those little girls had. It took great courage to overcome that life, and I can understand why it was important for the story to be told. It was, I am sure, cleansing to let it out. Thank you, Keith, and God Bless you Patti Cake and Dottie Bug!
