Cassandra Palmer - Cassie to most - has advanced as the series has progressed, as all good main . It was my decision why I don't want to read the book, very innocent reply. Here is the screencap.

Resolutely putting the kibosh on people - vamps, mages, and now witches! - trying to manoeuvre her from point A to point B all the time, and just being more dominant and forthright in general.

My name is Cassie Palmer, and I’m the newly crowned Pythia, aka the world’s chief seer.

Especially when you're only a half-goddess, and when you only found out about it recently, and when you still don't know what you're doing half the time. And when you've just used your not-so-reliable powers to burglarise a particularly well-guarded section of hell. Yeah, that part sucks. But that is just the first of the hurdles Cassandra Palmer, the freshly minted chief seer of the supernatural world, will have to face as she struggles to make her way in her new office

This book does not disappoint; it's just crazy good!! I love the adventure - the constant surprises and the twists and turns of the story - Cassie goes from one dangerous adventure to another - life is spiraling out of her control!! She is trying to learn as fast as she can - and her own sense of loyalty, fairness and honor keep tripping her up. The dialogue - both with others and with herself keep me hooked!! Love this series!!

This is my favorite fantasy series. You must read the books in order: 1) Touch the Dark, 2) Claimed by Shadow, 3) Embrace the Night, 4) Curse the Dawn, 5) Hunt the Moon, 6) Tempt the Stars, and most recently 7) Reap the Wind. I've read so many fantasy novels that it's becoming increasingly difficult to find original plot lines. Karen Chance delivers.

Love, love her books. They are hilarious but have the suspense and drama too. I've always liked all of her Cassie Palmer books.
Exellent
I loved this book. I love the world and the story she is weaving. My only complaint is the continued use of the cliffhanger.

Oh my, can't they just admit their feelings?! I'm dying here. I NEED Cassie and Pritkin to get together. The waiting is agony. That doesn't deter me from rereading these booos every time I get

I really like the Cassie Palmer character. I normally get into the kick butt bad ass protagonist, but Cassie is more of the common everyday type individual who by luck, karma, or divine/demon intervention wins the
day....almost. Looking forward to the next in book in this and the Dorina Basarab series.

Tempt the Stars picks up with Cassie determined to rescue Pritkin from Hell, and it is pretty clear by the time that the book is done that the Cassie who is now Pythia may not have all her powers down yet but if will power counts, she's going to end up being a force to be reckoned with.

Since real life forced me into reading this book in fit and spurts, where I normally hunker down and pretty much read through in a day, my overall impression of the book might be a bit skewed. Tempt the Stars felt a bit draggy to me at times. Yes, there are burst of the typical manic action for Cassie - and actually Cassie books are inherently unevenly paced because of the lulls in between the action, but this time the breaks were talky or infodump-y and I was tempted to skim at times.

(As a warning some of the rest of my comments are going to be mildly spoilerish.) Also I spent the last 10% of the book worried about the cliffhanger that I knew was coming - though actually for me it wasn't a horrible one because the bad part came before, so I was okay with the ending. I do have to say that if this had ended a chapter earlier I'd have been ticked off.

Still this was definitely not my favorite one of the books. Even though we get to see a bit of Cassie's parents, I would have like her interactions with them to have been more fulfilling for her, I especially would have liked a nicer interaction with her dad since they were sort of enemies in the past. And the way that the aftermath of Cassie's visit to hell was woven in with a rescue mission back in time was really weird - maybe Palmer did it to dull the emotional impact of that aftermath.

Bottomline, is that the lulls in the story were very lulling and there was not enough Pritkin or Mircea in the story but I do think that the book develops a fair amount of potential for Cassie and leaves her with a perfect opportunity to go popping around time (which should be better than the trip to hell) and an annoying companion to keep things stirred up.
4.5 stars. When we left Cassie, she'd been separated from her usual bodyguard/partner in crime, Pritkin. So the whole plot of Tempt the Stars is that Cassie needs to get Pritkin back. She knows she needs to get her mother's help to do it, but she also needs help to find her mother. She has to balance her personal missions with the demands of her new job as Pythia and the needs of her friends who are fighting a war.

I was happy to Cassie and Pritkin together again (through the miracle of time travel) pretty quickly. The two of them together have always been my favorite part of the series. And for some reason, Pritkin keeps having to take his clothes off on their adventures. At one point he even says, "Why do your plans always involve me getting naked?"

From the very first Cassie book, I've always thought they read like action movies. Cassie and her friends get chased through exciting locales by bizarre creatures more than once. They use creative and often funny tactics to escape, some involving Pritkin's recently removed clothing.

On her journeys, Cassie gets to learn more about her parents, supernatural politics and her feelings for Pritkin. And there's a new character who may be important in the future. But after all their efforts, the characters are no better off in the end than they were at the beginning. I had a lot of fun on the journey, but kinda wish we would have gotten somewhere. Let's hope we don't have to wait too long for the next installment.
