I ordered this book because I owned it as a kid. It was given to me in a stack of used books without the dust jacket, and I don't think my parents ever really knew what it was. I spent many hours poring over the abundance of horror film photos. At the time I was much too young to actually watch these films, but thanks to this book I was a horror movie fan even before I had watched a horror film!

As an adult, I often wondered whatever became of that book and would occasionally try to track it down. However, with no dust jacket to go by I found it very difficult to find. One night after a particularly in-depth search for this lost treasure of my youth, I managed to find enough information to put this book in the realm of possibility as the one I had lost. While reading the description of the hardcover ghostly horses underneath the dust jacket, I knew this was it!

As an adult, I can appreciate this book on a whole new level. One of the things I find most fascinating about it is that it came out before The Exorcist started influencing every scary movie, and has a decidedly British slant to it. This means that it covers a LOT of Hammer horror films and more obscure titles that a modern day horror film book may only give scant, if any, attention. And I can practically guarantee no modern horror film book would have as many terrific photos of those great movies from the 60's and 70's.

If you're a horror movie fan, particularly of those "lost" Hammer classics from the pre-1980s, this is a great addition to your library. It fills a unique niche in nonfiction books on the subject, and you just may find yourself fascinated by those dozens of photos just like I was as a child.
