Well done story of U.S. cavalry interspersed with an accurate account of how the Indians were treated by both the whites and the U.S. government. Racism is nothing new. Those interested in just how poorly the Indians have been treated should also read "Bury My Heart A Wounded Knee".

No one brings the old west to life like Dee Brown. I always consider reading one of his books as a privilege to enter into the past and experience that era almost firsthand. What a gift.
just one girl
Moderately boring. The title is probably the best thing about this book.

I enjoyed reaching this story about a part of what could be factual history. Good writing. We need more history

Really it was.

Dee Brown has written much about the settlement of the U.S. West including this story. This novel describes activities and life in one settlement including the hardships experienced at the hands of native Americans who felt they were being cheated. If you enjoy a good "western" pick up this book and enjoy.

Written as for fifteen year old girls that like a little adventure, a little romantic stuff and no hard words. Too simple for me.
I enjoyed the story very much. I like learning about the West and how we win it
