I always enjoy Alexander Fullerton's books, and this is no exception. Although fiction, this books is written almost as a literary documentary, describing the actions of one of HM submarines in the Far East towards the end of the war. It really brings to life what life was like on a sub but it doesn't really fill in the characters very well, as most of Fullerton's books do. Written shortly after the war, it is filled with the prejudice of the time against the "Japs," who are seen as almost inhuman. Given what the people at the time had seen in their enemy, that's.

The extraordinary prequel to the Rosie Ewing Spy Thrillers and their final instalment. Nick Everard, aboard the destroyer Harbinger, escorts a slow convoy through dangerous seas-the haunt of the ferocious U-boat packs, and the convoy is too vulnerable to pass up-at least that’s what the Allies hope, for Everard and his ships are bait designed to distract the Germans from the real Torch invasion forces.
