At Long Last, Love book. Judy Bagshaw was a retired elementary school teacher and writer in Southern Ontario, Canada.

At Long Last, Love book. Much of her work features such women leading rich and active lives, as she did. Romantic suspense was her genre of choice, but she also wrote humor, some non-fiction, and children's stories.

At Long Last, Love by Judy Bagshaw is a really good book. I loved that the women in the book were real. Judy Bagshaw is able to get right to the heart of the matter. Her writing was easy to follow and I enjoyed every story though at the end I had wished there was more about each character. I was left wanting more. Judy Bagshaw is an amazing author and I look forward to reading more of her books.

At Long Last, Love is a collection of seven contemporary romances that explore the experience of losing a dream and finding it again. The heroines are very different, but all share the same hope.   Trisha is a  widow in her late fifties who put herself on the shelf after her beloved husband's death, until she met Harry. Jenna, a supersized BBW is convinced that fat girls don't find love, only to be proven wrong at her best friend's wedding. Bev, at sixteen, threw her life away for the wrong guy. Now in her thirties she longs to find the high school sweetheart who's heart she broke.  For Cathy, it's winning the lottery twiceonce for money and the second time for love. Marcia, supersized and resolving not to let anyone step on her heart, almost misses being rescued by her tow-truck driving knight . Middle-aged writer, Vivian, has lost her muse. While searching for it, she finds the love of her life. A voice on the end of a phone line won Lori's heart. Will the feelings remain when she meets him in person?

All the women think that happiness is out of their grasp, only to find that at long last, love has arrived.

Heroines:  varied

A musical middle-aged widow, a disowned divorcée, an abundant young wallflower, an outspoken size activist, a doubly lucky lottery winner, an overworked answering service operator, and a blocked writer all find love where they least expect it in this anthology of seven fast-paced, easy-reading stories.

What worked for me:

"Coming Home" was my personal favorite (even though one story had a curvy gal who shared my name) because it was the tale of two high school sweeties who missed their chance the first time around, but got another shot at it later on in life. As a girl who married her high school boyfriend, I can heartily appreciate this one.

Size-wise the gents and ladies in this anthology were varied, but there is no question that they all understand about living life as "well-rounded" people in an angular society.

What didn't work for me:

The character who shares my name also shared an awful lot of the vitriolic self-hatred I used to harbor against myself, so it was a bit painful to read the beginning of this story. Fortunately, it all turns out okay in the end. :^)

Some of the stories which were written earlier in Ms. Bagshaw's career don't feel as polished as her more recent writings.

Overall:

These six sweet, charming tales about men and women of all ages and sizes finding love are sure to appeal to fans of romantic short stories everywhere.

If you liked "At Long Last, Love!" you might also enjoy the "Love at Large" or "Living Large" anthologies, or "The Bachelor's Cat".

At Long Last, Love by Judy Bagshaw is a really good book. I loved that the women in the book were real. The women in each of the stories had to overcome the views most people have about women of plus size.

My favorite characters were Belle, Tricia, and Lori. These women were wonderful. They had such amazing support systems with their friends and some relatives. I could really relate to what these women went through because I know what it is like to have people look at you oddly. These women did not let life get in the way when they each realized someone cared for them.

This book is wonderful for all those hopeless romantics out there. Judy Bagshaw is able to get right to the heart of the matter. Her writing was easy to follow and I enjoyed every story though at the end I had wished there was more about each character. I was left wanting more. Judy Bagshaw is an amazing author and I look forward to reading more of her books.
