Moonlight has hit some turbulence. Sure, his bar burned to the ground; his significant other, Lola, left him for another man; the private eye business is slow; and his evenings are now spent with his new pal, Jack Daniels. But this is real turbulence—in a plane, going down fast, and he’s waking up handcuffed to an FBI agent. How he got there is a little fuzzy, thanks to the sliver of a .22 caliber hollow-point bullet lodged in his brain.

Once on the ground, and after a few bumps and bruises, things become clearer and more dangerous. Thinking he’s been brought to FBI headquarters for drunk-dialing the IRS, Moonlight learns that he’s got some unfinished business: his last case, which had him up against Russian mobsters in search of a zip drive loaded with government secrets, isn’t exactly closed. The cop who was supposed to deliver the goods to the FBI went rogue, bringing along a crooked agent and Moonlight’s ex, and now he’s out to sell the hardware to the highest bidder. The FBI wants Moonlight’s help in tracking down the trio—all the way to Florence, Italy—and wooing Lola into handing over the zip drive. He’s just going to have to outwit, outrun, and outshoot the Russian thugs who have their own big plans for the zip drive, and for Moonlight.

Moonlight has a self-inflicted, inoperable, bullet in his brain. High blood pressure, a lucky hit on the head, or just bad luck could bring his quick demise. He is under siege by the IRS, and with no money to pay the taxes (he owes because he did not report all sporadic income), and annoyed because of the persistent harassment he starts a threatening email (pipe bomb mentioned) to let off steam and accidently hits send.

Next thing is finds himself handcuffed on a plane and threatened as a terrorist by the FBI. It gets worse for him, the FBI were looking for an excuse to get claws into him to force him to try and get back a flash drive, with very dangerous information, that he had turned into another FBI agent. This agent turned rogue and is trying to sell the information to the highest bidder. It turns out Moonlight's recent love interest, is on the lamb with this man. The FBI suggest the girl is being coerced and did not know what she was getting into. With this information, Moonlight would have taken the case, without the threats, and willingly takes off to save the girl and secondarily save the world, with the one stipulation that they clear up all his IRS issues.

Love, greed, betrayal, treason, murder and attempted murder, swirl around Moonlight, but he is determined and, while cynical, is a sucker for love. Good Read.

Another painful case for Dick Moonlight. He's between the devil and the deep blue FBI of the USA. On top of having lost his bar in a fire, his girlfriend to another man, now Moonlight has to help the FBI recover a disc drive the FBI feels is dangerous to national security, all the while, again, dodging, not very successfully, the Russians.

Broken, heartbroken, and wishing he could get his girlfriend back, Moonlight has to go international to fight the Russians, his ex-girlfriend's boyfriend, and a rogue lawman, then try to wiggle out of the FBI's grasp in order to stay out of federal prison, and keep what sanity he has left intact.

Very finely built and fun novel. Who doesn't enjoy a little moonlight once in a while. Or, in the case of Dick Moonlight, I can't wait for the next novel, as I've now read all of them so far.

Fairly enjoyable read. This is the first Dick Moonlight book that I have read. I was not prepared for the wild, yet somewhat creative imagination of the author.

This book is an exciting and thrilling tale of adventure. I didn't want to put this book down as I was absorbed by the endless characters emerging at every turn of the pages.
I thought the book was well written and I look forward to reading the authors other books. I liked the numerous gangster type people that suddenly appeared, many were very ruthless.
I think the writer created this tale with a breathtaking suspense in every chapter and I liked the way, in the background a fairytale romance was always dangling in front of you, and making you want to reach the end to find out what happened. The ending is spectacular and unexpected.
Loved that book. It is well written, the main character Dick Moonlight has issues but he deals with them and it makes him even more interesting. He is not your everyday hero what with a bullet floating around in his head which creates complications at the wrong times. There is humor in that. He always wins though.
