"The Body in the Gazebo" is another delicious entree in the long-running Faith Fairchild series. As with all the books in this series, the story is multi-layered, its parts woven together smoothly and effortlessly, so that the reader moves forward eagerly.

In this particular novel the body in question was long ago murdered and buried. But justice was not served, and Faith's friend and neighbor Ursula Rowe requests Faith's help in putting to right an old crime. Woven into the story of the long-ago murder is a present-day one of funds embezzled from the church's Discretionary Fund, with Faith's husband the prime suspect.

As always, there is food, both plain (toasted cheese sandwiches and tomato soup) and fancy (South Carolina low country cuisine) -- as sustaining, in its own way, as are the Faith Fairchild novels.

Fans of Faith will enjoy this story and delight in participating in the lives of the series characters.

Faith Fairchild is back, with a tale that weaves several puzzles together into a satisfying tapestry. The main mystery, the body in the gazebo, took place decades ago and involves Ursula Rowe, mother of Faith's best friend Pix Miller. It is told in flashbacks and has a ripping denoument that I did not see coming. A secondary plot involves missing church funds that seem to brand Faith's husband The Reverend Tom Fairchild as a thief. Pix, meanwhile, is in South Carolina at prenuptial festivities for her son--no Bridezillas here, just friendly folks who enjoy each other's company...with a surprise tucked in. A Bay Stater mysef, I enjoy Aleford and environs and spotting the author's little local tidbits (the iconic Redbones barbecue restaurant, for example). My only quibble: Faith just drove into the Alewife T station, parked her car, and took the Red Line into the city--a feat that usually requires arriving at the crack of dawn to get a space in the garage. Overall, lots of fun.

I've read all the Faith Fairchilds and think they are great fun. All fizz and pop, lighthearted and great fun. This one, with two mysteries going, one in the past, one in the present, keeps a good many balls in the air with Page's usual aplomb. I reserve five stars for serious books, so if you are on a plane, or waiting for one, or out with the flu, or just have a rainy or snowy afternoon, give a Faith Fairchild mystery a try.

Enjoyable tale I thought she kept wandering off the point too much, but that did make me eager to find out what happened. And I intend to read some more of her stories, this having been my very first.
I have read all the Faith Fairchild mysteries and am always pleased with them!
Light, enjoyable reading. I am always entertained and happy with these books.
