Burnt Toast, however, was quite another matter. If it failed to provide what I had anticipated from a superficial perusal in the book store-hippy-dippy goings-on in a Vermont farm commune-it delivered something unexpected in the way of substance.

Burnt Toast, however, was quite another matter. Flower power clichés were totally absent, as was the sense of looking backward. Moreover, as opposed to the "wouldn't it be nice" idealism-our world re-imagined through the lenses of Sixties counter-cultural spectacles-Burnt Toast struck me as real and as vital as anything in creation.

This book was purchased for me as a gag gift because of the title alone...I always have so much going on that I get distracted and end up burning the toast in our home, and my daughter could not refuse this title. She never even looked to see what exactly the book was about before purchasing it. I love to read so I read inside the cover to see if it was material that would interest me and I have to say, I never put it down. Terri wrote this book as a 40 year old and I just happened to turn 40 when I received it.

This was one of the best books I have read in my lifetime, as a matter-of-fact I read it twice and I have no intention of recycling this book to anyone outside the family (Just incase I need to reread again). She offers so many great ideas and personal thoughts to every page, many that made great sense to me and almost all that I could relate to. The second time reading it I made many, many notes. Also, I think much of what I enjoyed when reading it was is Teri's humble, down-to-earth personality, as opposed to the attitude many Hollywood actors and actresses seem to possess. I recommend this book to everyone...especially those who are experiencing the "mid-life" feelings that I have had this year turning 40. Among all of her seriousness, Teri adds much humor to the circumstances she has encountered in her journey. This is a woman I would not hesitate to call my friend if I knew her, she is just that transparent and loveable.

I would not hesitate to purchase another book of hers, should she ever bless the world with one. In a rating of 5 stars...Terri get's a 10 from me!

Thankfully I got this book as part of a swap, and didn't pay anything more than postage for it. Cos it was a waste of Teri's time writing it, and a waste of my time reading it. I read to about page 50, and ended up even more depressed than I already was, so gave up.

This isn't a stereotypical biography. This is Teri Hatcher wallowing in self pity. Big time. It's nothing but saying how it's "tough" being a single mother, not getting many jobs until Desperate Housewives came along, how she didn't have any nookie with her husband on her honeymoon, how her husband doesn't love her, how's she divorced and over 40. Whoopee.

Don't buy this book. There's no juicy gossip about Lois & Clark (like, my favourite show ever!!!), and she's full of it. Blah, what a waste of time.

Dominator

This book was great, Teri Hatcher definitely wrote about some very personal things and feelings so that possibly other women might gain perspective and have insight on how to deal with various life experiences. I admire anyone willing to do that! I definitely recommend reading this book for a woman of any age.
