We are just diving into the American Revolution. So, this morning I was perusing an old standby; We, The People: Great Documents of The American Nation. Discussing the causes of the war and the direct correlation between British rulers and merchants and our current problems with policy makers and corporations has hit really close to home for me. I’d always planned, at the very least, to point out the false narrative that school kids have been fed for decades concerning this period in our country’s history. Compiled by Jerome B. This book has a very wide assortment of American historical documents, which I had hoped for. However, what ruined it for me was the compiler's habit of inserting snarky, often personal, remarks before documents whose writers he didn't agree with politically. If I want to read something, say, by Newt Gingrich, I don't want to be subjected to a crude attack on Newt as a person.

I previously had obtained a copy of this on a clearance table at BAM a couple of years ago. I wanted a second copy for my son who is home schooled and not far away from his high school and college years. This is a must have for anyone who is interested in American history and what our founding fathers actually intended for the direction of this country. These documents contained within are the history we should all know and not the liberal progressive agenda being pumped into our school children.
