This is yet another tale of the trials and tribulations of our favorite Ranch Security Dog...Hank. Loper and Sally may, the owners of the ranch leave for a wedding and of course leave Slim in charge to care for things and watch of Little Alfred, their young son. Slim and Hank...what a combination for complete disaster!

Over `sampling" sampling ice cream to the point of being sick starts things off in a grand way...so typical of dogs and kids. And then of course there is the very, very angry bull to contend with...a skill Hank has obviously not mastered.

This is a funny book and I must strongly disagree with the semi-wretched assessment here from the School Library Journal. This publication is normally off target just a bit but in this case...well, they sort of shot is the wrong direction and missed completely. My advice is to ignore their condescending and foo foo review, read the book and enjoy it.

This book put a smile on my face on page one and kept it there right through to the end.

Good, funny and honest clean fun with this one...to be enjoyed by all ages.

This was a library find.

My dad would put these stories on for long car rides when i was a kid I've loved Hank the Cowdog ever since. John R. Erickson has crafted a beautiful world with expressive language and rich characters.

Our family likes to get Hank the Cowdog audiotapes from the library. This one is one of my favorites, probably due to the trouble Little Alfred and Hank get themselves into. My kids (ages 4, 6, 7 and 11) all enjoyed this tape tremendously. (I only gave it 4 stars because it doesn't have great educational or moral value--but it sure is hilarious!)
