Rögnvaldur Hannesson was professor of fisheries economics at NHH from 1983 to 2013 when he reached the mandatory retirement age of 70. He was born in Iceland 1943 and took his P. in economics at the University of Lund, Sweden, in 1975. His academic career has been in Norway, first at the University of Tromsø, where he moved in 1975, and then at the University of Bergen and NHH.
